Getting a bit dikbek!,...... My car is now a bit too long at the painter,.... But that's another story.

Question......... What is the product name of the "sound deadening" you used as seen in the "crouch cooler" pics.

I will be going down this road and saving a few rand will help.

Ha ha, we all have the same problem, car was at the painter for half a year, but just think, the longer they take the better job you get......

If only

The product is ABE Super laykold silver paper lined strips, all building merchants have it.

You get it in different widths, but the wider you go the more impossible it gets to get it on flat.

I used the 100 mm wide, and heated the tar side with a heat gun to make it nice and sticky.

just be careful to not make it too hot or touch something else, as it will stick to everything it can.

Works like a treat.

Good luck with your build

Thanks and good luck Haans.

We still waiting for harness, but have had word that harness will be here before end November, so I will be carrying on with the assembly on all parts that will not interfere with slipping the harness in when it gets here.

Have received some long awaited bling so my "Must Get" list is getting shorter by the day.

Here is the Trim;-

Image

and here some of the much needed bright work, that was missing when I got my shell.;-

Image

With all the moving and packing and un packing, I can not find my running boards, that means I will have to repack 3 storage places to try to find them.

What fun.......

So, still waiting for harness, but have done some work on the 52.

So a lot of threads have asked about how do you do wheels the correct way.

Well here is the the right way to do wheel refurbishment as per the "Old Toppies"

1st you send the rims out for sand blast.
Next you have the whole wheel powder coated with the colour you want the hub to be.
Then you mask off the hub, Make sure you drop the masking tape into the grove, before sticking it to the wheel, so that it sits right down in the grove, as shown here;-

Image

Image

You may have noticed that the powder coating will not go into the grove/ joint line, this is normal and will be sorted later.

Now paint the uncovered edge of the rim, making sure you spray right to the bottom as well as over the edge of the rim, as you do not want a white ring between your rim and tyre.

Image

Image

Image

When dry, remove the masking carefully, as it may still have some wet spots, and you do not want to smear the paint now.

Image

Image

You will find you land up with a terrible edge line, that looks like S#it, and bumps from the sandblasting and powder coating.

Fear not, that is where experience comes into play.......

You now take a syringe, fill it with the paint used on the wheel, and start applying it to the wheel.

Image

Image

Make sure you have a steady stream coming out, and make sure the tip of the syringe, stays on the painted edge, NOT the grove, as it will flow in by it self.

If you do not keep it on the painted edge, you will land up with high spots, and smears where you do not want them, then you have to start all over again.

Take it slow, and make sure you wipe the front of the syringe perfectly clean before coming over the rim, as one drop could spoil the whole show.

If you do not have it all covered, or you have messed up, go around again, with more paint, and make a new edge line higher up.

When you done, it should look like this.......

Maybe @TonyZ will place this post on the technical section for reference.

Well till next time, maybe the tyres will be on then....

Thanks for looking
