On Saturday was me fagher's birthday so we took the Kombie as we had a massive family picnic at the pretoria botanical gardens.

Everything running shaap. Then on Sunday while taking the kids back to their Moms.
All of a sudden a massive pop and it sounds like a tractor. So i stop on the Zambesi shoulder.
I have a look and the zhorst is fine. I notice one sparkplug is out. It was laying ontop the head.
No sparkplug spanner. I had a longnose and a phillips screwdriver. My Wife foumd a piece of wire next to the road and i managed to hook the plug using a hook i fashioned with the wire. So the kids Mom came with a sparkplug spanner and i managed to get the sparkplug back in again. 5 blocks from home it popped out again so we had to limp home. I hope the plugs thread in the head isnt stripped or anything.
Measure twice CUTonce.

Got into my bakkie reversed out of the garage, saw it was a beautiful sunny SA day, drove straight back into the garage.
Piled my boys into the Beetle and went on the school/ work run in style! :hangloose:

The adjustable front suspension is done. Now I am in two minds as to having it powder coated or painting it with 2K myself. If I paint it myself I can be done by the weekend but it is unlikely that the powder coating will be done. I need to paint some other parts of the front suspension as well and modify a brace that attaches to the front suspension and supports the long nose of the Spyder to clear the adjuster that was welded in.

GO with power coat. last longer and really strong and wont chip of. Rather wait that time longer and do it right. And electro plate the arms, then they wont rust. this is how mine looks.

Wow that looks awesome. Good advice thanks. Not intending to hijack the thread but did have the entire swing arm plated, including the shafts going into the tubes?

Jip, the entire swing arm and shaft have been plated. just add a lot of grease in side the shaft where the spring plates are in. after assembling , take the grease gun and add more in by the grease nipple.

Collected my front suspension from powder coating today. Had it done a "gloss black" only to find that it had what looked almost like a metallic finish but on closer inspection turned out to be white spots/dust baked into the gloss black. Turns out they were doing gloss black in the one oven and white in the next and did not close the doors properly. It's overspray white which is nicely baked into the gloss black! I thought the owner was going to beat up someone but anyway its back to sandblasting and coating again. I said I need the parts by the weekend and the owner agreed so someone is going to be doing a little over-time. :x :x :x

Collected the front suspension from powder coating again today. Looks good now and also got the grub srews and lock nuts from electroplating. So the front suspension is going on tomorrow.
