Good Day All,

Im not a very newbie because i once was part of the forum but through other commitments i was not able to keep the communication going. My name is Dave Pillay i live in the south of JHB and work as a Client services manager for a financial Institute
, currently 24yrs old i may be one of the younger members of the forum. I must say though, don’t let my young tenure in this world fool you about my wit for VW’s, i have since 17 been driving VW's and built two golfs for experience under my belt. The reason i joined this forum was due to me falling in love...... after years of driving around in the backseat of the many Vw Kombis my Dad owned i came across a split screen barndoor Samba,it was love at first sight....... and as they say the rest is history! ha ha ha

I have managed to get my hands on a nice bus two years ago and till two weeks ago i did nothing. Decided to start this project and now that the restore fever had got me im not going to stop.

I do know a few guys on the forum but a special shout out must go to my buddy Thomas (mellow Yellow) he helped me find my bus and gave me motivation during the times i wanted to scrap the project.

Project update:
I have striped my bus down all axels off and gear box, hoping to have doors and windows off next weekend and soon to have the entire bus sandblasted, that’s the plans going forward.

Im happy to have joined the forum again and I am looking forward to taking some help and advice form the "respected elders".

I will post some pics for you guys soon, just starting to feel at home….

It was built in 1980, and so it is a 28-year old vehicle
In 1980, Millions of viewers tuned into the U.S. TV soap opera Dallas to learn who shot lead character J.R. Ewing. The "Who shot J.R.?" event was a national obsession.

He he he - just joking! Welcome to the Forum

Welcome home again Dave.... We look fwd to chatting about your project in the months to come...

AND A SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO SR...hehehehe WE KNOW BLOEM IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE BUT THE WORLD WIDE WEB CUTS THE DISTANCES A LOT SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT TO BE HEARD......

Then again SR sometimes you do need to shout to be heard on this site....hehehe
But a very warm welcome to you hope you enjoy your time with us.... We do tend to give our china's a lot of grief but its all meant and taken in jest and with a lot of laughter... When driving 60 yr old technology you do need a good sense of humour.

WELCOME ONE AND ALL!!! hehehehe
