Vader,

you could be right, there might be hope. Did you replace the floor pan, ignore the problem of fix it with welding ?

Still no further pics, as the development and process of visual changes has been severely halted due to the wonderful CT weather. I am going to have to put in some leave, for the rest of the week if this weather continues however. I do have a question thoguh ... i am looking at redoing the full wiring system. Anybody know where the best place to buy the parts is in Western Cape / Cape Town. I am based in Gordons Bay so Helderburg would be great (Though unlikely)

Thanks

So I rebuilt "quarra". Replaced all the parts I had taken off ... Then looked at her .. somewhat lovingly, and was idssappointed with her colour. I was sure I caught a glimpse of orange in that "red" paintwork. So Iwas gettign a quote for a satinf finish on the black components ... guess what .. the guy giving me me the quote mentioned "orange" .. aaahhh!! So, yep, Friday I started sanding her down again. Tiem for a new colour. Was bored of the old colour anyway.

Sanded pics on there way !
Now where was that bolt from again ...?
And do I need to weld that together?

And the "keep me happy" weather continues in CT. I hacve now had around 5 days .. and maybe 5 hours in those 5 days to actually sand my poor lonely vehicle. But ... every step is a step closer. I purchased the undercoat paint, a satin black and bought a new gun for my clearcoat. Low presssure, gravity feed, muc hmore preferred that the suction ones.

I just kannie wag nie for the perlescent to go on top ... I have deceided on a black finish on ALL trimmings, with a sating black undercoat and a 7 colour perl clearcoat ... expecting a nice fiish ... and will post pics when I actually progress at least one step further ...

The red that was/is after the silver was suppossed to be a "romatik xxxx" something or other. I was looking for a deep red ... but alas .. the orange tinge was just too sickly, so started again. As this '78 has already been masacred I thought I would try the perl. I am doing it all myself anyway, and learning as I progress. This is also definitely not going to be my last VW so will go with the red option on my next project. (I do still like red ... deep down) thanks.

Well ... its not fur ... its carpet :hangloose:

As for what else.

They cut the roof off and did a conversion to convertible, but it it a 1978 curved windscreen.
they then placed baja wheels on it and added hubcaps to the mix
then to add some cherries added what could have been side mirrors (that a mini would embarrsed to wear)

So yes, the fur would have been netter. And by the way, had chicken for supper. the seatcover was driving!
Now where was that bolt from again ...?
And do I need to weld that together?
