Nice project and its good to see you have a written plan.

but do not live by it.

As you build the project it will mould itself. Things will crawl out that you did not even think about and you will find other ways to do things. (normally controlled by money) Be flexable and creative and only settle for something once its done.

This is not a Lego car you are putting together. Rather let it flow and enjoy the build.

This kit is probably more hectic than what I'm really looking for - probably can less hectic heads (roundports) and cam (engel 110). My fear is that I need every day drivability (i.e. enough low down torque to make driving in Jhb traffic a pleasure rather than a pain) and wild engines tend not to be. However, with a 82mm crank, you've got to have SOME torque, right?

Oh well, it's gonna be a while before I need to fit an engine. Maybe the rand:$ will hit 5:1 and then I can pounce...

Kits look good.

Still need carbs, exh and clutch and pressure plate.... gearbox and engine supports.

Then from CB, budget on about $1500 for shipping of that kit, maybe more.
They wanted $600 to ship heads to SA and $800 to ship a case to SA.

After imports, you are prob looking at $6000 to $7000 for one of the bigger kits.

Yes there is.Me and Vader have been into highly debated posts to convince each other that the their choice of fuel is the best,especially after Audi won the Le Mans 2 years ago.

We have all agreed to disagree.

Dude - that was just for Audi to prove a point as in 'watch, I can stick this needle in my eye'. Just because they did it doesn't mean it is sensible...

(and I'm allowed to say things like this as I drive a '94 diesel Laguna that uses 6l/100km and a 4l Auto Fortuner that doesn't... )

LOL..... lets no get into that engine at the moment.
In short, it runs. I spent about 1 month a year in CPT so dont really have enough time to get things going 100%
Now that its at the point of being able to run, the brakes have seized up. Thats my next job when I get home, this time I'll only be in CPT for a week tho and have other things I need to attent to. Will see how much I can get out of the car.

petrol better you find more petrol in upper africa than u do diesel
