If I were you I would look at either rebuilding or replacing those callipers, they sat out in the rain for a looooong time and didin't look as if you could just run them, I tried to open the piston on one of them and it seemed seized.
BTW I am working on a kit that uses a Toyota calliper that will not push the wheel out when going from 4X100 to 5X205 PCD.

What do you need?

I'm rebuilding those brakes completely, no problem with those calipers, I've rebuilt mercedes ate calipers before that needed to be bored out and bigger pistons made, I got those new disks from garrin, but they for the front. and they're thinner than the ones on there already, I want to have four new disks.
I just need to find another disk or blank thats that size which I can machine to fit

I was the Test Pilot in 1992 with Leathal Beetle for Sean
There was Quite a few different versions of them from the start
There were the crackking issue around the bolts as the discs were bolted together at first and a few upgrades
Those you got looks like the later version and think they used Nissan 200SX brake pads for the front

I have been past them a while ago and they were not interrested to machine some more but who knows

You got the adapter on wrong :? it should face the other way.

Um... nope they are quite right.

Look at a stock front drum, where the stub axle end is in relation to the mounting surface for the wheel

Now turn that adapter around and the wheel mounting surface is pushed out about 80mm from the end of the stub axle!

I'm not assembling these brakes randomly any way they may fit together, believe it or not I have a :bn: load more logic than that! As well as several instruments such as rulers, verniers, clock gauges and the like. The wheel spacing is exactly the same as original.

It seems that you're not particularly keen on this disk brake setup.

To get these calipers refurbished I got the parts from Norbrake, they say that they cant be 100% sure but they look like Nissan 200SX brakes, well I got all the components for front and rear calipers, thanks for confirming that, that makes two who've said 200SX.

Who are "they"?
I got some extra disks when i bought the brake set, I got a friend of mine to machine them to fit, the dimensions are the same as those rusty ones which were originally on there

My only concern at the moment is the brake balance between front and rear...
As the beetle has a significant rear weight component due to its engine being at the rear
Most modern disk brake cars have front mounted engines, and hence large front brakes and small rear ones
Looking at the stock drums, the size difference between the brake slave cylinders front and rear is not very big
these brake calipers have a signaficant difference, the fronts are about 50mm diameter and the rear ones 30mm diameter... :?

I had no stopping problem with both sets when I had them on together on my one bug many moons ago
The only problems that I oucured was the crackking of the discs but think they did finaly sorted it out

I will go past them when I am in the area and have a chat to some old friend and see what I can get out of them

The other problem is that if you have a hard and heavy right foot and some Ponies at the back the pads dont last long as their small size but they do stop

On the Vees they had the adapter on the other way round for a wider track when the stock rim was still being used. I don't think the development was ever completed on this kit. They also tried Toyota calipers at one point, I believe. :D
I'm not too keen on this kit, and same goes for many of the VEE racers.
These were initially made with formula VEE racing in mind, you will not find a single one using this kit today, the disks exploded, and the front disk got way too hot, the rear caliper bracket was too thick and seals always leaked, and the whole kit was extremely heavy. I can't remember the price then but it was extremely expensive, production didin't run for long due to these reasons. :drunks:
