Painted the bars and got rid of the flames. Went for the classic race stripes.

The cage is welded to the engine cage. I am going to make the bottom section removable. I need to do the roof thing aswell, *^%#$ hot here were i live. I have no cell phone signal permanently but luckily i am quite mechanically minded, also rewired the whole buggy myself so i should be OK, i hope. I am carrying a spares box with the basics. Im not planning on driving like a maniac, just want the buggy stiff and strong. These dirt roads can break any vehicle over time.

I took them off but then the wife complained so I put them back.
I am running a generator and afraid switching them on will result in sudden death.
Like the look of your bug. Will defraud the house budget somehow to get some off road takkies
soon.

When you or anyone gets the time, can you explain the differance between a generator and a alternator? Sorry if its a bumb question but i have always known a alternater to be the gadget that charges the battery. Right or wrong?

alternator makes alternating current, generator makes direct current (DC).
Alternators are more robust and newer. They can also handle higher loads and dont have any brushes that wear down.

Havent been on for a while, been out playing in the bug named "Herald" (after a red lipped herald, the snake). Been on two camping trips since last here and boy did i have fun. Went to molatedi dam twice and got my fair share of mud over herald. Had to use the wap to sort it out afterwards. I never realized how off road capable these vehicles are, went through water,mud and rocks that would have left my nissan bakkie straded.

Only noticed this now, quite cool

Now down to business, whenever i go on a trip with Herald, the back end sags, even by myself. I always have a fairly heavy coolerbox with me and thats even a bit much. I plan on taking Herald camping fairly often and that extra camping stuff weighs a bit. When herald has no extra weight, the swinging arms are about 1cm above the bottom ledge in the shock mount gadgets(that cast thingy). I ve herd that i can turn the swinging arms up 1 spline to stiffen it up a bit. Is this job relatively easy and does anyone have a good link that explains how to do this mod?
