I have stopped buying the printed Volksworld and subscribed for the digital verion. For the price of 2 or 3 printed copies I now get a full year plus 2 bus magazines as well. It's a no-brainer.

Digital version rocks. AND, if you accidently delete an edition, you can download it again for free.
The Zinio reader is not too painfull to use,so works well enough for offline reading.

You are also saving a bit of rainforest, and not being ripped off by import duties/cna.

well i did make a poll on the vw club of sa and the majority said it will be a good idea but said that the market is too small for it to me ONLY aircooled y not make it a combined magazine of aircooled and watercooled vw's will have alot more customers and will pic up relatively fast well thats just my 2c.

What about an ACVWSA online club mag, where members can upload pics, articles advice, advertise etc as an online option. It would almost be like this forum, but putting all the relevant info into one place and offering it for a small fee online. You would obviously need someone to collate and edit it.

why dont u piggy back on one of the more succesfull magz by putting in a regular aircooled insert of two or three to start off. this way u save on start up costs until u build up a following. the mag will then have more interests and thus more sales for them. this would come at a cost but much less than if u start from scratch. this will also give u an idea of the market out there.

I must say that is a cool idea and might just work!

first off i support a truly SA mag whether that be an online format or in print. You guys have so much to offer the vw scene due to your unique uitenhage vw plant
Lets face it you`ve been assembling CKD`s since 1951. There are so many SA only products from vwsa that it will make your head swim.
I think an sa mag would need to harness both the aircooled and water cooled scene or go roots and only deal with aircooled vw and porsche....my thoughts

What you need is cheap labour. Enthusiasts and students are the obvious solution. Media students will pounce on a project like this and they should have a bit of an idea of how to write, take photos etc.

Joining up with a magazine group is probably also a good plan. Cars in Action and Classic and Performance Car Africa are the same group and seem to get by.

I would guess that an online publication would be the best way to go.

Why don't you look at all the mags currently sold locally, what is the overall picture that emerges? What is the gap? We have new car mags, tuner mag and a number of World wide specialist and general mags.

The gap is this, nothing for restorations, fixer uppers or rebuilding and modifications of old/vintage cars. Approach a few of the other communities, like kit car builders, vintage mark restorers and start with a simple PDF online magazine. I offer my services in co-ordination of something like this. Business plans, desktop publishing etc, even photography, got the kit and have been published before.

Obviously a strong VWAC content, we can have sections, technical, VW, Kit Car, Concourse, Racing etc. etc.

If we get people to write short articles, take photos and videos of events, their builds, their projects etc. collate it into a publication on issuu(the system our resource library uses)... which I can do already, voila, there you have your online magazine. I'll do something for the Volksworld show and other EU show I will hopefully visit when my son gets his passport.
