Will do - looking at maybe doing the runners/mechanism and the sending up here. He's in CPT so we will have to do a postnet to postnet thing

I have a folding rear seat from a 78 baywindow bus that folds flat to make a bed, but otherwsie l;ooks stock, but much simpler than the one pictured above. This weekend I also found a Z-bed hinge mechanism; looks like a home made copy of the mechanism from an earlybay westy seat/bed.
Anyone is welcome to measure them up to make coipies.

This is the folding mechanism I made for my camper. It is a lever type system and does not use springs. It is quite a simple setup and is made from angle iron and flat bar. It can easily be made at home if you have a welder. The only problem with this setup is that my head is a bit close to the roof. If some thinner foam is used it should be ok. The 140mm foam is a bit thick.
I have a bar welded in across the front for the chair to rest on. I strong piece of wood fixed in place would also work. This is necessary for the chair to slide up and down on as well. I have had this in my Bay for almost 3 years and have had no problems. I think it is a relatively sturdy system.

This is a system from another Bus converted into a camper by some camper conversion in Randburg. It is nicer than my one as it can travel lower down to give more head room but still come up level with the engine bay in the sleeping position. It is a similar system with levers but instead of my bar in front it has two wedges of wood to rest against.

Sean - Thanks for posting the pics - looks good
Are you gonna make up some mechanism to sell or are you able to post your original measurements ?
Fig - If the mechanisms are at your farm maybe i can look at it when up there or in the new year we can meet up with a measuring tape !
