and built in France where AFAIK you are pretty much not allowed to modify anything

You are quite right sir. You are not allowed to TOUCH your car..... then it is not homologulated anymore. Hence that car being on the back of a truck. Doubt it ever gets off it, unless he is at home or the show....

Unless of course you're a REAL hotrodder - then you build it & drive the hell out of it & take your chances with Johnny Law (or whatever the gendarmes are referred to as).
A number of guys I know also built their cars, had them SVA'd & reg'd in the UK & "imported" them back to the mainland - perfectly legal (for now)

As you said Barry, if you see custom cars in an overseas publication, ie VolksWorld, the French cars have been "imported". Most built in England, then imported back to france. One way of doing it!

I didnt want to mention this "route". That is what I planned in doing for my future Trike and Chopper......
