Dave Rowley here in CT does the counterweight cranks, if you have a decent std/std crank he can counterweight it for R750 he can also do the eight dowelled flywheel and crank I had this done as well as lightening the flywheel for R200

Eight dowelling the crank and flywheel just entails drilling four extra holes in the crank and flywheel and adding the 4 extra dowels in those holes I think its worth every cent

The dog house shroud has a seperate duct to blow the hot air from the oil cooler away instead of it blowing over your no3 cylinder like the non doghouse shrouds. The type 4 oil cooler is fatter than the doghouse oil cooler I think it has 2 more rows than the doghouse one giving more cooling capacity

Im gonna be keeping a close eye on this thread as I might turbo my 1600 mild street engine one day first gotta finish building it though

Ok, so i think i'll do the counterweight and 8 dowel.... but who can do this in jhb/pta area?

lastly, is it worth it having the heads ported, can a big increase be expected? Can this be a DIY job, or is that not reccomended? what would the cost of this be if I have someone else do it?

if the rest of the engine is up to it and the heads are the limitation, then porting does help.
If the cam is stock and you have twin weber carbs, then you prob still dont need porting cause your cam is the limiting factor.
you can get 100hp on stock valve sizes with the right combo of parts and a nice little port job
