"Barndoor" buses, as they are referred to by vintage VW enthusiasts, were built prior to March of 1955. "Barndoor" is a nickname
referring to the extra large engine compartment door, or deck lid.

my "barndoor" at the back of my bus is smaller than the pic above's. Also, the back larger than the above's window.

I would love to post a pic, but i simply cant until i go back to the car thats in storage. I will send one to u as soon as i can, but im googling around for a pic of the back of a kombi that looks like mine...

It looks similar to the back of this one- except for the paint job....I also have the slatted windows like this one does...

Chris has 1090 times more posts than Paladin...
