I dont know what they eventualy used but the thoughts/development started with beetle based buggy. ----not that it matters now anymore----

Hi Baron, that is really very interesting, thanks for the info! I think one of the problems with an a/c military vehicle is the noise, which is a big no-no for tactical movement at night. The Jakkals Jeeps we drove when I was in the military were actually quite silent, and had a 'blackout' switch that would disable all lights, you wouldn't even be able to turn on anything 'by accident'.
