I had to cut the body in half because of the proportion of the talon are different from the buggy.
The Talon is square and the buggy body is narrow in the front and wide in the back.
I will have to widen the front and narrow the back of the body.

It looks like half a car for now.

This guy just likes cutting......I can't see it yet, think the work is very interesting and brave but kind of crazy!

The body doesn't look right for me.....rear wheels too far back and all the cuts in the bonnet are too much. I still love seeing this thread though!

No very exciting, but my friend Tango took some cool pictures...

I think the "buggy" needs the straight part over the rear wheels parallel to the ground or slightly up in the rear to look right. It seems to slope down toward the rear a bit. May just be the way you had to rest it for the photo.

Any thought to the rear body treatment? Normally contains the cool exposed VW engine, I’m sure you have something cool in mind to treat/cover/trick out the radiator?
I still working on the positioning of the body to get the best stance possible without cutting it in 15 pieces.

The rear treatment comes next.
A rear mounted rad for better weight distribution.(and I have no room in the front...)

I am planning on having separated aluminum sides.
I want to be able to remove the fiberglass fender easily and then drive the car "naked" at the track.

The madness continues...

Work has been slowing down (wife and kids are back)

I have been doing some more body work and welded the body mounts.
I have been inspired by the way RC cars body are mounted.
Because I like the way the car looks without the body, I want to be able to remove it and drive without it.

Woaaa...

I would never have thought that my little project would become so international.
Thank you for hosting me.

A little update exclusive for you guys.

I started to try fit the windshield.

The windshield is from a MK1 Sprite.
And no, this is not the final position of the battery.

Welcome DSM, I luv this project. Slowly but surely its all gonna come together.

Just my 5c. Are you only going to have 4 body mounting points? Is the body not going to move about and not be very rigid?

Cheers

It's going to be like a Smart car.....just pop the panels off and replace them in seconds!

I agree with Pine, your work is stunning and the skill, well I'm watching in awe!!!!

Not sure I would ever be brave enough to be a passenger mind......not that I would get an invite anyway
