Hey Ricky, know how you feel man. Also got some bad news today, that in a couple of months time I will also be out of a job. Hopefully some other opportunity opens dude....today was a terrible day for me too, getting bad news at work, getting dumped...it all comes at once. Hold your head up high, you'll be just fine...

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I need an engine gearbox and sideshafts for the bay. I will pay for it as soon as I can. So if anybody is willing to help a fellow airhead it will be much appreciated. You guys are a great lot. Thanks in advance

Thing is I've got a 16v 1800 golf engine, a 1300 twin port,a 1600 single port and a rusted beetle pan with a gearbox I am willing to part with if anybody is interested.

The biggest concern now is to find an engine and gearbox and two front seats. The rest I've got to get it running again. O ja and of course the sideshafts. But.....this makes me feel like a beggar!

I have 2 front seats if you want them. They are the originals from my bus and are in need of TLC, but you can have them.

I'll see if Jurgen still has the engine that Ron & Gill donated for such a reason but it's a no runner and in Cape Town. Let me see what I can do.

Chris, do you have any running engines that we can to a collection for?

Bugger, you must have an old unused gearbox around somewhere? Second collection from the forum

Eben, Can we use the advertising revenue to add to the collection?

Unfortunately I do not have any bay window IRS boxes laying around
as these boxes are quite not the type that lay around and are a bit harder to source
The best hope to find a bay box is if someone knows of a bay in a scrap yard with a box then we could buy that for Ricky
If it was a bug box that would not have been a problem

The reason why these boxes are so hard yo find is that the are used in T3 kombis. I have seen it done a couple of times. I have seen a bay that has got a box but the bell housing is stripped off. Will find out if its for sale

Time is drawing to a close. The end is near and still no wheels. As I am staying on a farm, this is a problem. Does anybody know the procedures to be followed when you are retrenched?I mean there must be some legal responsibilities on the firm's side or is it just here is your last paycheck, take your jacket and fcuk off? :(

$hit, man... this has never happened to me, but your HR department, or your boss, should be able to answer that. Yes, there are procedures. I imagine you need a IRP5 (paye record) from your ex-employer and another slip of paper that you take to the Unemployment folks proving you contributed to the unemployment fund, don't you get money from the government for 6 months or something? These are the things I would query. What about company medical aid, does it continue? And what happens to your pension. Oh, BTW, if you can help it, leave it alone, stick it straight back into a pension fund. (IMVVHO)

Good luck, man. I hope something good comes your way soon.
