Re: 1956 Kombi - ex Ambulance
A few interior pics of the ambo .....
cab floor, etc. not too bad, no rust

came with a few nests in the overhead vent area

popout frames screwed closed with self tappers

semaphores on both side are hacked out

the nest removed from the overhead vent area consisted of stones and gravel, lots of sheep wool,
the usual twigs, leaves, thorns, feathers, etc, can't believe what you can stash in there, not all out yet

Congrats nice Bus i hope you have fun restoring it back to a ambulance it's going to look good

It's not how fast you get there it's how you look when you arrive.

Looking good. Part of the fun is sourcing all the bits. Enjoy.
. Think a few years back nobody was considering restoring that bus.

Re: 1956 Kombi - ex Ambulance
Look what I was given today !!!!!! It has been lying underneath an avocado pear tree for a few years ! Before that it was lying outside in a junk yard with
other bits and bobs. It looks pretty complete AND it looks like an original split screen ambulance step
Thanks Hennie

(Hey Splitbusaholic, only seeing your semaphore offer now, very interested, tks)
Still looking for a front bench seat, tail lights, centre brake light, reverse light, any other ambulance bits

Re: 1956 Kombi - ex Ambulance
Jolas, - Just seen your new find all the best with the restoration - good one.
I have just scanned a VW Transporter Workshop Manual for the 1955 Type 21,22,23,24,26, and 27 I can put it on CD if it would help or I could photostat the thing for a reference. Won't be the original but has the ambulance in it, let me know. I also want to offer it to the forum for a reference (electronic version). Good luck

Hi Bushpig
Wow man, yes I would love to have a look at that, it does'nt matter which format
Really appreciate, would be really great if the forum members could also access it. Will you be at the technical day at Grandslam on the 7th May (Gordons Bay), we could hook up there ?
I do have an original 1955 Transporters Manual as well, but would love to see what you have there, especially with regards to the ambulance. Thanks again
