Still have it. Took me a few years to rebuild. For the past 20 years it's a daily driver.

Got this in the post:

Saw the cop pointing his speed-camera at me. After passing him at 55, geared down and floored. He swung around his camera, taking this picture from behind. Allegedly i was doing 76. Maybe he was awoken by the sound from the 4 into 1 exhaust...
Got another one for doing 131 on the highway in a 120 zone.

The other day my kombis were parked in. So i removed the beetle's passenger seat to fetch some braai-wood. Loaded some inside the bonnet as well. Once had two bar-fridges inside the beetle. (130 litre size). Amazing what can fit inside a beetle.

I have the original post card above, and by pure chance I stumbled across this pic on the 'Net tonight (from an old SAR calendar), also taken in the Kruger National Park in the 50's - do you think it is the same Beetle? :shock:

Only difference I can see is the way the wipers are facing?
