Hi Armand,
Now THAT'S the BEST CONSTRUCTIVE critisism that I have received for a long time. PLEASE accept my sincere thanks!

Suffice to say that you have NO IDEA of what MY Brick Manufacturing & Building System has to offer. If I were to say to you that, amongst others, the System creates 16 jobs (as opposed 5 by any other brickworks), a savings of 80% on Cement alone, 100% savings on Transportation of the product (Just to mention a few) I am positive that you would like to know more?

But, be that as it may, I is NOT my intention to my students go into any expense here. I am teaching them to manufacture my product WITH SOMEONE ELSES MATERIALS. I am planning to give them my Patent Rights FOR FREE.

I think you and I couls become BEST FRIENDS, albeit we started out 'on the wrong foot'.

I trust that you will enjoy the rest of the day and REALLY look forwrd to meeting you soon.

Kind regards
DAVE

Hi Wehner,
THANKS A SPAN for your feedback and encouragement. You sound like 'my kind of guy'.

Unfortunately, Impi's response was 'out-of-line' and I told him so but we have 'kissed and make up'.

YOUR advice I accept and would to chat/meet with you soon. In view of the fact trhat it may be a LOOOONG chat - can I not call you on a landline please?

My numbers are 021-7121259 and 021-7158159 but I would be happy to call you.
Your info about the Visas ALSO make a lot of sense to me. THANKS

Kind regards,
DAVE

Hi JamesD,
Perhaps I should have sent the quote I sent to Impi, to YOU instead - it suits you better.

I must, however, give you credit for admitting that "Aircooled VW South Africa" is a forum, but in my understanding it is a forum for 'Aircooled VW Enthusiasts'. I think I fit that desscrition while both you and Impi are 'barking-up the wrong tree' - giving me council on Brick Manufacturing which make you sound like 'Aircooled VW Brick Specialists' .....who knows NOTHING about bricks.
If you know ANYTHING about 'Raising the suspension of a Beetle' , (which I now seriously doubt) why don't you confine your comments, if any, to THAT subject? I suggest that you 'speak now, or forever hold your peace'.

Suffice to say, I happen to manufacture the BEST CONCRETE BRICK IN SOUTH AFRICA - 16,3 mpa. Shall I tell you what mpa means?

Seeing that you have a Right to express your opinion, maybe I should do the same and say that, "...What you know about brickmaking is probably half of what an elephant knows of ballroom dancing'. If you deny this, then why don't you and I debate this topic at a more appropriate time and forum? Quite frankly, I cannot see how people like you can even AFFORD to debate with me about something you know very little or ANYTHING about. I am also not prepared to waste my time like this. Why don't you communicate your comments about other peoples' sex-lives, housing etc to those CLOWNS within YOUR GOVERNMENT Structures?

I am asking for advice on 'Raising my car'. THAT'S IT !!!

By the way, are you perhaps 'White"? Assuming you are and Impi is 'black', then I would like to suggest that the time for whites to stand-up and speak for black is long-gone here in South Africa. Black people are quite capable to speak for themselves. Impi DID respond to my quote and we seem to have several things that we can build-on for the future and does not matter what his race is. So, don't respond to this latter comment unless you can afford my Fee - R18,000 per hour + VAT + expenses.

Hi Golfmad,

PLEASE don't give me the impression that this is the ONLY VW Forum in the world.
My introduction was simple, straight-forward NEVER confrontational.

Oh, I see, is that you motivation, to come to Africa and get rich. How f****ing noble.

For a motivational speaker, you spend a lot of time speaking out the top of your neck and changing feet. As a comedian, your doing quite well though. When you suggested putting bigger wheels on your MG and you MG on a Beetle chassis, my beer came out my nose. Haven't laughed like that since gandma caught her tits in the wringer, as they say in the classics.

But, in keeping with the thread, here's a bit of advice:

Bricks: Have you looked at Hydraform? http://www.hydraform.com Hydraform was started by some whitey in Joburg at least 25 years ago. You overslept. So we don't need you to come show us, we know how.

Cars: The advice you got on cars is good. Toyota, Africa is littered with Toyota parts. Land Rovers not so much anymore. Even ACVWs not so much anymore. See http://www.redbuggy.com

Africa: Change your attitude before you come here. If not, your condescending style will see you in a Nigerian prison, or something, and those boys pack big.

BTW: I'm 50, I am an engineer and I also work all over Africa, Asia and even the US on occassion. I even know a little bit about cars.

Hi Ron&Gill,

That's right, stay with the thread !
If you dare to venture out of your 'domain', you are on dangerous ground with me.

Maybe I should remind you that we, "AMERICA" landed on the Moon FIRST and you can't even build decent houses for your poor.

You say you are 50? Well, I'm 70 and you'll NEVER catch up with me. There's a beautiful Chinese saying - goes something like this. "He that is fallen behind in a race MUST forever remain behind or RUN FASTER than those in front of him".

Your advise about the Toyota is well taken but I have already invested in the Beetle Chassis and MGTB Body. Now, I am MORE DETERMINED to make this venture successful - so that I can MAKE YOU EAT YOUR WORDS.

See you in the movies,
DAVE

South Africa dismantled it's nuclear arsenal, you haven't, that's much more important than going to the moon...

And you can't build houses for your poor either. Or won't. Better yet, your average American can't even hang on to the house he bought, the banks are so happy to foreclose on the poor bastard!

One thing I must agree on, you really do need to travel.

Bring it on, Dave. Oh, and happy 4th...

Actually, that song was released in 1969. So, not before my time. Need help with the arithmetic?

It's not the years, it's what you've done with them. Your defensive rudeness (which infers naivety) tells me you think you've not done much.

But I have to (begrudgingly) add that you have a big dream for a 70 year old. Now that is why I would do it, and therefore I would have to wish you luck. See you in the movies then.

Sorry Dave I don't have a land line. You are still welcome to call me on my mobile, I will gladly help. A word of advice to you. You will have to change your attitude when doing a trip through Africa. You are planning on visiting someone else's house(country) and will need to show more respect. I am not saying that everyone else is right on this forum, but this is their house and they are part of one family. The right attitude is everything in Africa and life. Best of luck and let me know where I can help.

You can read here about my efforts part time with unskilled labour!
Dam Makes bricks for a living
Most of the people on the forum has another occupation which they dont brag about suffice to say there are draughtsmen, engineers, miners, mechanics young people old people bullshitters and doers.
The name IMPI if you care to do some research is derived from the ZULU language which for a person means a quarrelsome person or a group of soldiers depending on the context.

You are a bit blunt in your assesments of people also bringing the race card into play. this coming from a nation who still disdains the NATIVE AMERICAN AND ACTUALLY PAID PEOPLE TO KILL NATIVES. even your so called space race is mostly the brains you liberated from the Germans and conveniently forgot their war crimes. The whole united nations effort was started by a South African Jan Smuts. You must realise that each and every person in South Africa stays here because we are passionate about this country.

My Dad is 71 now and extremely active still riding his bicycle 40 Km a day so I do understand it is possible for you to do such a thing but I also see that older people get so set in their ways that they dont think clearly. You said that your family and friends actively disagrees with your plans WHY?

BTW do you have an original TD (notB) body or one of the Fiberglass recreations this would help us in assisting the technical stuff about the car Yes I have done off road suspension work.... Is the car in SA or in the US......
Post some Photos
Armand BTW I am neither black or white I am a South African.

Like IMPI says, I make bricks for a living, clay bricks.
16.3 MPa is a bit of an overkill for a normal single storey dwelling, 7 MPa is OK for this, minimum spec, 10 MPa you can go double storey.
BTW, clay bricks are "greener" than cement/concrete bricks, it is a better insulator than cement bricks, cooler inside the house in summer, not so much heating necessary to keep it warm inside in winter. :D
