Here are some photos that we took on Saturday and Sunday when we started stripping her for a clean.

The before:

All the seats and panels still there.

Engine needs a good clean but not sure how to get it clean without using too much water on it.

Image

Roof lining still nice.

Image

Looks nice and solid underneath.

Image

Shift boss doing early inspection before the strip down begins

Image

Seats out.. Carpet has to go!!

Image

Carpets out and the floor is nice, only a few small rusty spots.

Image

Front nice but they seemed to have fixed the drivers side with fiberglass that needs some new metal.

Image

Started cleaning the rear, can see the difference.

Image

Inside nice and clean.

Image

Front cleaned up.

Image

Scrubbed the seats and you can see the difference on the backrest. Seats look nice and still have a few thousand km's of life in them :D

Image

Cut new boards for the front of the bus, and the rear door. My GF traced the rear out of paper and made a stencil for us to work off.

Image

Image

Fitted and looking neat.

Image

Need a handle or cover for the glove box and looks like there is a cover missing on the switch for the rear light inside the kombi.

Thanks for looking.
Robin

Just cover Air Cleaner Intake, Alternator and Carb/Coil
Air Cooled Motors are quite tough.
Then Wash Away with some Prepsol, Clean Green or Steam Clean it...

Little update on the Bus.

She was named Nara - Meaning Happy. My GF has said from day one that the bus looks happy so we think it suites her well :D

Also finally fitted the replacement board for the back door that we made.

Image

Image

Decided to spray the bumpers, grill and front badge white as the entire bus looked boring in the same color.

Image

Also decided to spray the tow bar and exhaust while the bumpers were off.. no use having a fresh bumper when the rest looks old and worn.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

and fitted , looking much better!

Image

White bumpers fitted with the grill and badge and it looks a lot better. also replaced all the bolts and nuts while the bumpers were off with new ones

Image

Image

Went to our first swop meet last sunday at the piton ring club and found almost everything that we were looking for.

Image

Old dashboard handle

Image

New and looking great

Image

Also got a radio as a gift from my dad so the bus finally has some music in her!! :hangloose:

Image

Cheers! :D
