No, Every set has its own number, and if you have more then one set, it means you have used stolen parts to build up your car (thats what THEY say), so that is why I said, ,,...its going to become very interesting, the more old cars get Dotted....

I would'nt worry too much about all of this, I watched them do my bus, I was on the floor with the guy watching him spray under my bus. None of that stuff is going to stay there, he just sprayed on top of all the dust and oil and grease, mud, etc. Where he sprayed inside you could just peel it off. He did indeed spray everything (engine tinware, block, battery, carb, dizzie, fanshroud, gearbox, wheel rims, backing plates, front and rear suspensions parts, etc, etc. All of that will come off over time with services, washes, gravel roads and so on. I noted a few places where it should remain undisturbed, like inside the doors (behind the door cards), under the roof lining - but thats because I know I won't be repainting those areas (although I will spray inside the doors with oil/parafin mix now and then which will also probably destroy the stuff).
But I could'nt give a sh*t, this is just some new procedure which us suckers have to adhere to which will make a few people rich. You have to do it, so just go for it. Look around for better prices, the smaller the vehicle, the cheaper it should be. I think I paid R380 for my bus. Sean paid almost R500 for his '59 bus at the same place if I remember correctly? So their mark-ups vary from place to place.
Perhaps find one or two places that you definetly WON'T disturb during restoration and ask the dude to spray there, like inside a spotlight or something.
After they do this procedure, and you have been back to the licence dept, you have to go back once more to the SAP vehicle clearance guys - here I asked them to show me how they look at this product - he scraped off a tiny bit (really small, used a ball point pen to scrape it off one of the rear chair legs) and smeared it onto a piece of paper, then he used what looked like a little torch (small microscope with ultra-violet light), placed it over the "smear" - the unique code is very very clear.
Just let them do their thing and make them happy and you do your thing, and restore your buggy and enjoy it - all these problems that come later, they will have to work out the solution

Totally agree Paul, what will be will be.....

As I said before, they do their thing, you do yours...

One day they will see the error of their ways, and come up with another system that we pay for, that has been half baked, and we start again.

It is'nt visible everywhere, especially where a "thin" coating was sprayed on - but - because it had just been applied about 20 minutes earlier, it was easier for us to see it and scrape a bit off. They will probably use much more sophisticated equipment when investigating a "suspect" vehicle
