The ACVWSA forum is booming compared to some other forums, I haven't been on another particular forum for two weeks, I log in and there was about 15 new posts (about 3 was updates on car builds/projects)..
I think we do more than that in a day, given that a lot is talk, for sale/wanted etc. and projects / build threads are a bit quiet, but like I said it's booming compared to some others..

I think most of you guys are missing the point.

When there is a recession, and work becomes harder to find, you need to hold on to the bucks you have, even if you have more then you need, to feed and look after the family, because you do not know when your firm goes bust,or you land up on short time, or you get put off without a job.
My company supplies large and old firms, that have been operating for 50 - 60 years, and they are going bankrupt one after the other.
Have seen 4000 guys out of a job overnight, a day after they told me they where safe.
Have been taken for thousands by these same company's when the went.
Here in PE, there are 1000's of family's that have had no income for 5 weeks due to the strikes, this means 100's of supply firms will be closing due to lack of income.

Kids do not eat aircooled parts, wife can not spend painted logo hubcaps.

This is not negativity, this is reality.

When you out the parental home, the big world is a cruel master, when you can not just tap Mom for a few bucks anymore.

Totally not negative, just saying......... :D

if you still have IT, smile, you one of the few.

Since Feb 2013 this forum has been running at a loss
Will have to make a plan how to make it at least pay for itself...
Any ideas from yourselves?

I do believe that we should get Eben to set up a donation thread, most forums have them, and this will enable the guys that use the forum for selling stuff, to make a small percentage donation back to the forum, for the use of such a broad spectrum of advertising.

The business guys that make a living from this forum, should place add's here, for a small payment/donation, the add should have only the name and what they offer, then when you click on the add, the contact numbers appear.

This way we will have more guys clicking on the adds, and a this will bring up our ratings, and bring in more add's

All guys selling on the forum, as well as guys using the forum that have web sites, should put links from their web site to the forum.

Eben you must place a section on "Friends of the ACVWSA Forum" so guys can pay to have a link on the forum to their own web page.

Now as most of us have a PayPal account, we can do it with PayPal, EFT's, and local credit cards.

Even "The Samba" has a donation page .... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/donate.php

Now before you all shoot me down, think how much joy, advice, help, savings, and friends this forum has brought you, now, me thinks, its payback time.

Lets get the ideas going guys.

@eben think you will have to ask the big BOSS.

From the page above, would seem to be approx. 25 Pond per month.

Just offhand, I can think of one company that sells a lot of items through the forum while contributing very little to the informational wealth hosted here...
At one point a certain company also asked us to "fault find" on their new website for them

Surely it is companies like this that can/should contribute a large portion of the sites annual running costs, each year? Which is why I want to know how much the site costs to run.
Surely this much advertising should be worth an annual donation? Especially if it is increasing their income.

Think you right, should you get hold of Multichoice, and ask for rates on International exposure advertising, you will fall on your back.

No, any price would be cheap.

Even "The Samba" has it ..........http://www.thesamba.com/vw/donate.php

Doekle, dude,

when you compose a thread, LOOK at the bottom of the screen, you will see a word that says UPLOAD ATTACHMENT.
1.jpg
And then follow the prompts.. BROWSE for your file, select it, and upload it.. Then say weather you want it inline in your post, or just an attachment.
