I have a few questions about these pics, what angle are they taking these from, direct plate level or at a down ward angle. Sounds like a little down ward angle. Here we had (have not seen nor looked for it) a spray you can spray on your plate and when the camera takes the pic it just flash out (they use flash even in day time, so the flash reflect from the plate) so all you have a a white blob. You can experiment with different kinds of clear coats, spray angles etc. Maybe some pearl or glitter in clearcoat.
Also another thing is disappearing license plates, the custom car guys, use a mechanism where the can retract the plate under or into the grill for show purposes, but can be adapted to retract the plate when passing thru the toll and reappear once past. So if pulled over, "well officer the plate is there, don't have an idea what you talking about"
Don't know what the license disk is, but it sounds like it is on the front glass, if you perfect your plate spray a little on the aria of the disk might help reflect too. You are after reflection of the camera flash and not cover up. Well just a few cents from an old hot rodder that loved to outrun the cops.

I have also heard about things like that... but if you go that route, you also need to ensure that all the window markings (numbers which are sandblasted on) are covered too as they can also use this to track your vehicle.

I don't think the evil things use a flash or infra red, most of the plate blocking sprays block IR light

My thoughts are along those lines as well... I am just not sure if the camera's have dual modes. so UV for night/dusk and visible spectrum for day time...

I bought one of these specifically for the e-tolls

I talked about retracktable front plates, here is what I was talking about.

Wow, that's nifty, but trust me, should you get stopped in a Roadblock and the cops see that, it's not even debatable boet, you go straight to chookie for the night. That is classified as defeating the aims of justice, and carries hectic penulties, and possibly jail time. Just sayin'.

I do part-time work as a chauffeur for a "drive you home after a few drinks" service, and over the past month, I could honestly admit that not even 10% of the clients vehicles I've driven have an e-tag in them. Now, it's quite clear that these folks have some sense of law abiding in them (thus paying a private company to drive their car home safely so they don't have to "negotiate" with Metro), and I'm assuming they might be the kind who will pay for the toll if and when the bill comes throug.

It would be interesting to do an unscientific survey on this forum of the GP based guys (or frequenters), run it for 4 weeks, and see how many of us are "tagged" and "not tagged" who use the roads.
I've said on numerous occasions to friends and family, when the government passed the "same sex union" law, it became clear that the people's voice isn't heard, and I bought my tag way back in 2011. I knew we were goin to see the implementation of e-tolls (successful or unsuccessful as it might be to police), and being the type that HATES queuing, I bought mine before the rush. Am I a sell-out, eish...
