Will consider selling mine at the right price . 0832650254Goose wrote:Hey guys
Is there anyone in or near Port Elizabeth who owns a 356 Speedster?
I am looking to start a project car and would really love to see some examples in the flesh/fibreglass.
Also, if anyone knows of a Speedster anywhere that is for sale at a reasonable price, please drop me a message. I have seen the one advertised on gumtree at the moment in Joburg, but I don't want to pay upwards of 100k for a car that I still have to completely re-do. It looks great, but I know what I want mine to look like![]()
So I'm looking for a complete or partially complete car, running if possible, that I can restore.
Failing this, I will go the kit route. Is Universal Products still the only company selling kits?
Any info will be greatly appreciated

Goose, correct, Garth Waberski has just done the body mod on Manny's awesome "Black Sheila". So, hopefully he's modified his master molds, or, he'll have to do the mod after he's finished extracting your body out the mold.
My price won't be regarded as "reasonable".

I expected as much
I went and read a bit now, and it seems like the only real problem was the level and spacing of the headlights, not really the shape?
Also, what is the purpose of the back seat modification?

Re: Any 356 Speedsters in Port Elizabeth?
The current mods being the Headlights and rear seat area are simply to produce a more accurate replica of the rear cars. The Headlights are 30mm's lower (but were molded higher due to an old roadworthy law I believe.) They're also slightly inward of their current position, and the rear seat area is more "correct" as per the original 356's. Shape isn't altered much, if any really.
Have you contacted him about a car? and pricing? See if he offers the upgrades yet or not?

Hi Goose,
As mentioned by Alan and Gary they said it all these beauties are pretty much.... build it they way you want it.
If you're going for a very authentic look, I strongly recommend decide on which speedster model you want the base your replica/recreation, take note there where four speedster models over the years of the speedster production:
T0 Pre A
T1 (UP is molded from a T1 version)
T2
Carrera
Here is a few websites to get you started http://www.speedsters.com/ and http://derwhites356literature.com/
I am also in the process of launching my website dedicated to South African speedsters http://www.356speedster.co.za/
Garth has not modified his molds so consider additional costs for the headlight mod, rear seat mod and deck-lid mod. I also recommend don't use the seats from UP rather spend a little extra and get seats from Anton these seats are molded from an original speedster seat
Cheers Manny
