I'm interested in another one now. Would it be possible to fit a water cooled direct injection engine in a Puma? And would the radiators get enough air with those tiny little vents in the back?

How much space is there in the front boot and behind the seats?

Why not go with Type 4 power like I did. I'm busy modding it to take an injection system off 2.1 wasserboxer motor. I've already done the electronic ignition system using a TP900 and a golf wiring loom with the distributor from the 2.1 it works like magic.

You get good reliable power and you keep the car true ACVW - It's pretty much just a bolt on conversion.

Check this out :

It runs cool as the venting is sufficient as well.

I think the dual trumpets are a nice touch as well.

Some development over the past two months.

"As is" delivered to the body shop.
sIMG_2990.jpg
The body was first removed from the chassis
sIMG_2996.jpg
Because the chassis was slightly "vrot" :TIC:
sIMG_2999.jpg
Then the body filler to try and get all the lines back
sIMG_3006.jpg
With some blacking to bring out the lines properly.
sIMG_3051.jpg
The A post had to be cut out and replaced. The metal reinforcing inside had completely rusted, expanded and cracked the fiber glass
sIMG_3151.jpg
The inside was then prepped for the black paint.
sIMG_3165.jpg
Then the yellow on the outside.
sIMG_3213.jpg
sIMG_3216.jpg
Some speckling in the boot and engine compartment as well as some black detailing.

The boot compartment before

some black detailing

Now the engine build begins. Hopefully reporting back soon.

Excellent work done on the body, what a day/night difference, you must be proud.

The pan looks like my 52 looked, I feel for you, but, the final result will be well worth it.

Keep it up

Herman

This weekend I decided to buy the yellow bird a little friend.

I'm told by my wife that cars don't have feelings and that it didn't need a friend. She's just bias.
Friends 1s.jpg
The friend is a very dark plum colour so I've called it Barney. Barney has a 2l aircooled bus motor and is scary fast, specially without brakes. Thankfully the hand brake works or Barney would be no more.

Barney comes from Amalinda. I couldn't find a manual to do the re-assembly so I'm using Barney as a reference manual. Once I'm done Barney will be sold.
