Do not think the VWAC forum is Labeled as "3rd party image hosting"

It so, then everybody's account will be closed and they close down.

Same thing happened with Image Shack - and the sad result is lovely reports of road trips, salvage missions, car shows, etc, with missing pics - I used to spend hours trawling through old threads of ACVWSA but could'nt be bothered anymore. The stories are SO dead without the pics. I have tried to replace pics on some of my old threads because this is where I record the stories for my kids, etc. But its taking a huge amount of time. (and in the back of your mind you wonder how long the pics will be there for)

No use, spent some time this morning downloading and deleting a lot of my albums. No difference.

Guys, register a local domain and host it with an Afrihost or someone else, it'll cost you around R 200-00 a year. For that, you can get Gigs of space, your own email addresses, spam filters and management, and place to load and keep your own Photos and pictures forever, etc.
Stop messing round with "cloud' shit and hosting companies, you have zero control over them.

OK.... So here is the full story......

*What is 3rd Party Hosting?
Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting.
Why Photobucket?
Photobucket is the global destination for linking and 3rd party hosting. In Photobucket’s 14-year history, the Company amassed over 100 million registered users, over 15 billion images stored, 2 million daily uploads and 10 billion photos accessed monthly.
Easy to Use – Upload a photo from any device and copy the embed code with one click to host a photo with no development or technical knowledge required
Competitive, fixed pricing Offers the only unlimited 3rd party hosting plan (Commercial and Personal Use)
Are my pictures still safe?
Yes! All your photos are still available by logging into your Photobucket Account. Photobucket has only restricted the ability to view your photos on 3rd party sites.
Can I download my Photos?
Absolutely, at any time. It is an easy four step process:
Step 1. Login to your Photobucket Account
Step 2. Navigate to your library page
Step 3. View a photo and click the download button
Step 4. The picture will be saved to your computer

So it would look as we all will be blocked .....

@Eben would it be possible to "save image" before they block the 3rd party hosting ??

maybe a little copy paste program would work here??

@Eben, do you know if it is possible to write something to interface with the hosting software? Troll it for links to and replace it with the actual image?

I'm willing (and able) to try, if it is possible

Hi guys,

Sorry for only replying now.. I was on vacation in Scandinavia..

I see some issues. The links to the original photos don't produce the original images either so the downloading of the images for hosting elsewhere cannot be automated from our server side.

One option: If you are able to download your images in one single archive with the correct file structure and file names(as in the the embed code).
If this can be done I could provide the option for you to upload it to the site server and I could redirect the link in the embed code to the local copy instead.

Could someone check if it is possible to download the whole archive from the photobucket interface?

I've got good news. It looks like I'll be able to extract all the photobucket links and convert them to be stored locally. You would not need to do anything. Please leave your old posts as is for the time being. I will update you when it will be happening.

HI all,
It seems that the copying of the files didn't quite work as planned. so I had to roll back our database to last night. We would have lost a few posts between then and now.
Apologies
Next time when I run the script after it comes back from the developer, I'll keep the forum locked until I can confirm if it worked or not.

Good news is that many of your images are already downloaded but not all:

20 posts to be exact... i still have them but I'm afraid of breaking something if I import them ad-hoc.
