I think this was the model, you may still get it old stock, am I correct Tony ?
Facet Cube Style 12 Volt Fuel Pump, 2 to 3.5 max psi
model # FAC-40178
This one is too high as Tony said.
Facet Fuel Pump Maximum pressure 2.5 to 4.5 psi.
model # FAC-40104
I have started replacing them all with the HUCO 13 3010
This has a max pressure of 2.1 psi, which is correct for Solex and Weber carbs.
Which I imported from Eurocarb, as the local guys only have the high pressure 13 3000 pump.

THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS THUS FAR.
@ SEAN...
IT HAS BEEN THROWING BLACK SMOKE SINCE WAY BACK WHEN I FIRST STARTED USING THE ELECTRIC PUMPS (AS MENTIONED EARLIER IN THE POST, I'VE TRIED A FEW OF THEM NOW)
I'VE TRIED DOING A BYPASS ON THE LINE SO THAT EXCESS FUEL GOES BACK INTO THE SYSTEM BUT GAVE THAT UP AS THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO GO WORSE THAN BEFORE.
I'VE SET THE VALVES AGAIN, TIMING, PUT NEW FILTERS ON THE FUEL LINE, NEW CARB KITS, CHANGED THE TOP OF THE LEFT CARB BECAUSE I FOUND THAT THE THIN BENT PIPE THAT POINTS INTO THE VENTURIE WAS MISSING. HAD THE CARBS SET AND BALANCED AT A REPUTABLE AND EXPERIENCED WORKSHOP, BY THE OWNER HIMSELF.
I LOOKED HIGH AND LOW AND FOUND A REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP (OE MANUAL PUMP) AND IMPORTED IT FROM THE USA. ONCE FITTED, NO FUEL AT ALL.
I DID POST ABOUT IT QUITE SOME TIME BACK IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY.
THEY WERE APPARENTLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND NEW AT ONE STAGE. HASN'T HELPED ME EITHER WAY.
I'LL KEEP LOOKING AND TRYING AND SEE IF I CAN SORT IT OUT.
5KM'S PER LITRE IS GREAT IF YOU'RE GETTING FANTASTIC SPEED AND/OR TORQUE BUT I GET NEITHER FROM MY BUS.
WITH THE FUEL PRICE WHAT IT IS, THE ENJOYMENT I HAVE USING MY BUS DAILY IS DIMINISHING QUICKLY.

I think there is a thread somewhere about a Facet fuel pump - 3psi max, that Herman posted about.
Maybe get a pressure regulator ?
So could one make a plan with your pressure tester that you will use to pressure test the cylinders ?

If you have lots of black smoke, then you are over fueling.
Take air filter off, switch on ignition only and check down carb with a torch. Do you see fuel dripping down the venturi? If the pump has too high pressure, it will bypass needle and seat and over flow down the venturi.
5km/l is very excessive. On a good day, you should have 10km/l, but on a bad day, no worse than 6,5km/l.
Have you jet sizes been measured that they are infact to original spec? Quite often it could have the correct size stamped on the jets, but they have been reamed out in a previous life.

Way back when Granny was a pin up you could buy inserts that fitted inside the fuel hose with different size holes drilled into the insert for restriction, but whether that worked or not I could not tell you it might have been one of those get rich quick schemes.

those are pretty easy to make, but wont help him one bit
yea they might drop the fuel pressure by limiting flow at higher power levels, but at idle, the pressure will still cause leaks.
Mark needs the correct pump or a fuel pressure regulator with a good gauge.

I bought a pressure gauge yesterday just to check the pumps. What pressure do they need to run at?
Will it be different for different type engines.

Solex max at 3 psi best at 2.2psi
Weber Max at 2.5 psi best at 2 psi.
As far as I was told by carb fundie

Not too sure, but doubt it ?
I have also in the past hooked up three different fuel pressure gauges to my pump, all with different readings

D is correct, as the cylinder pressure is much higher then the fuel.
You need a low pressure gauge.
Do not forget that atmospheric pressure is already 14 PSI. But this is already compensated within the gauge.

I see Diesel Electric lists an HU443010 in their e-catalogue:
UNIVERSAL 12V
SUCTION PUMP
(ENGINE MOUNT)
0.3 BAR
Looks like the HUCO pump you mention.

There's also a HU443000:
UNIVERSAL ELECTRIC 12V
PRESSURE PUMP
(CLOSE TO
TANK MOUNT)
0.25 BAR

not a chance, neither of those will work
3psi MAX !!! there are 14.7psi in a bar
so you want less than 0.2bar

The only lowish Huco the local agents bring in is the 44 3000
This is to high as said by Tony.
This is the unit MARK is having so much

with.
They tell everybody its the low pressure pump but it is not, and they will not import the correct HUCO 13 3010
The HUCO 13 3010 is the only low pump that Huco make.
Thats the reason I had to import them my self.
Sorry,
Herman

I import a different pump which I've been using for years without any issues. Also low pressure, max 3psi
Most people who want one from me wont buy it because its too expensive. And then they end up with years of issues... pick your poison
