This is one of the best activities is when you get to scratch through the farm scrap yard.
Piece of gold found. Not from this bus, but a perfectly straight pressed bumper is a good prize.

Home made camper interior. Some may recognize the cushions from the old SAR carriages.
Carpeted roof lining
Dodgy mechanical work. Plumbing fittings and the bowden tube not even located to the gearbox.
Rather creepy animal parts falling out of the starter motor
Twin port motor removed. Started on the floor and runs amazingly well.

I love scratching through plaasgemors on an old inland farm.

Some more disastrous issues that have been keeping me busy because of a man "trying" to carry out a conversion and shouldn't have been allowed to own an angle grinder.
Note how low the engine is hanging. The engine cradle and forks had been cut out and a baywindow IRS suspension and gearbox installed (extremely badly).
First issue, the engine was only 4cm off the ground. Again, how could this oke have stood back and said this is a marvelous improvement???
Home made engine brace
Heater boxes just laying against the engine brace. Note the NOS VW exhaust, I did remove this to preserve.
Gearbox plate just welded direct to the body. This entire motor was solid to the body, no rubber mounts at all. What a terrible experience it must have been to drive it.
Home made selector coupling
Baywindow suspension. Note where the shock mount is.
Instead of being at the bottom, its been rotated completely into the incorrect position.This was obviously to somehow mount it onto a splits spring blade. Hence it has no shocks as it wasnt possible to install.
More from the baywindow hackjob.
Engine bay also been hacked to accommodate this bastard conversion.

More on the abortion.
Take a look at this wheel after this conversion. You don't need a wheel alignment machine to see this is skew.
Engine and gearbox removed.
Possibly the worst installation of a foreign light I've ever seen. It appears a thousand holes were drilled and then cut with some tin snips.

This is what I did yesterday.
I had been keeping this half cut up / rusted single cab since fixing my red Fleetline single cab and many times wanted to throw it away because it looks so hideous, but never did because of believing a may need more parts off it. Well, the time came and I removed the engine hanger and forks from it.
Westy body being prepared to have replacement installed.
Balancing act with a jack and the wife having to help hold the donor part in place.
top sections welded in.
Bottom forks welded in.
Job done. Trolley wheels installed for now as the underside must be sandblasted and painted first.
