Much as I admire Unimogs, I'd take a Samil 20 ahead of a Mog any day.

Samil is simpler and parts are cheaper and the Samil has a greater load capacity.

If I'm not mistaken, Deutz engines are modular design, with separate heads, barrels and pistons, all the same size, so all these parts are interchangeable between all Deutz engines, no matter what configuration. IMPI or someone might correct me on this.

Nothing does a better power slide than an empty Samil50 water truck! Not a go idea when you have 18 tons of water in the back!! There was also the Samil120 twin axle split gearbox truck. But the samil20 was my favorite FokTrok!

There is also a rear engined Magirus Deutz short wheelbase touring bus.
Just a few were built in S.A.in the seventies. They are popular in europe to convert into motorhome.Their website is http://www.r81.de.

Unimogs are VERY low-geared, and although I've spoken to owners who tell of fair fuel consumption, it's still going to cost you a fair whack.

100 is somewhat of a pipedream with a stocker.

Think carefully about what you want one for. ;)
