be sure to disconnect the battey before doing any work. Insulate the electrical connections and make sure the resistor (the thing you are buying) can keep cool without burning anything nearby. For that price, if the wipers are too slow, you could get another one of a different resistance if needed. And please get proper electricl lugs (fittings) or use solder and shrinkwrap instead of twisting wires together... fire will follow at some stage in the future if you play around.

Easiest method is just to use a 6 volt bulb in series with the live wire works well

if your wife girlfriend or yourself use a hair drier often you are bound to have a broken one lying around. open it up and strip out a piece of the resistance wire (the coils that get hot) start with a 30cm piece and install it between the positive and the wiper now progressively shorten the wire until you like the speed of the motor. wrap the wire around an insulator (old glass thermometer for example) and encase in epoxy putty.
Most commercial resistors are either too fast or too slow.

the last one is to get a electronics boffin to build you a constant voltage generator this device only puts out six volts regardless of the volts you push in.

Hey Camperman, How did the relay work out? Did it fix your problems with the wipers? I want to do a similar thing with my wipers and my clock in my Ghia.
