double check that your cooling tin is all in place and that it effectively keeps the hot air on the bottom half of the engine.

because its non stock engine the cooling tin doesn't seperate the top from the bottom effectively... While the rubber boot and flange ensures the cooling fan draws in cool air, the carbs draw in the hotter air from around the engine...

The engine compartment on a T3 does not seal the way the T1 does, it doesn't even have a rubber "seal" it will not help trying to seal the top half from the bottom.

thanks rui,

Yes Tony you have to remember that the Type 3's come out with both cooling-fan and carburettor fresh air intakes that mount on the body so they didn't need to be sealed between top and bottom.

Tell me rui, is this the filter you are talking about?

Now that I've been looking at those pictures of the box you sent me rui I dont think that it would work. I need smaller rounder inlets to the box and a round connection to the body as well. Even one round inlet and one round body connection would work. Doesn't some opel (AFM injection) and digifant golf boxes work like that? One round inlet on the AFM meter, throttle body side and a round connection on the airbox where the air goes in? I'll have to go to a scrapyard and have a look at the options. Thank you for the photos by the way Rui.
