I once made the mistake of putting a notice on the SP2 stating
This is not Fiberglas. Every a@#$%^le had to tap that as well to make sure.

Went over to Tom's secret workshop the other day, and the 'Thing" is down to just the pan. I mean, the only thing Tom can still take off is the paint! Tom is taking lots of care in putting it back together, all the new parts are lined up ready to go.

I am so very jealous....LOL. Nice work so far Tom. Can't wait to see the finished product. The 'Scuby' powered Beach buggy was also lurking back there. THAT is going to be a menace! Looks brutal!

And no, Tom has sworn me to secrecy, I have officialy forgotten where his workshop is hidden. (Under Table Mountain, entrance second big flat stone on Kloof nek Rd)

The Body is comming along slowly. Lots of swiss cheese metal has been removed. The rear of the body was full of little holes and paper thin. Somebody had coated the outside with a thick layer of body putty and the metal rusted away from the inside.

Got the Longblock back from Claude Inde. This guy is a legend. He has been rebuilding flat 4s from the 1960s. He retired a few years ago, sold some machines, started up again as a hobbie and is now in full swing. He works alone in his machine shop, not even a cleaner. He showed me a book of all the motors he has reconned in the last couple of year. There are pages. This guy records everything. All your parts get stamped with your job number. This is a good old school guy that you dont find anymore.

BTW the motor was shot. Crank already cut to max and shot. Even the flywheel never met Mr Inde's approvel. Heads were bead blasted and steel inserts fitted for the spark plugs. It also got new pistons and valves. All the old parts were returned back to me.
