Right, so today I open the fasty to look at taking out the seats. Good thing too, it seems that the rain we have had these last few days has managed to collect in the back of the fasty. I had to jump in with a sponge to get the water out.

By the way Chris, that's where the bolts for the front suspension was hiding. In the rear under the seat opposite the battery.

Now I managed to get the water out so I made a quick phone call to Chris to find out how to remove the front seats. Turns out that it's a two man job but with some Q20 and a neat rope-trick, I managed to turn it into a one man job

If any of you are interested in learning how to do that, I'll present classes on Wednesday nights on chat

Then, to make sure that the nasty water does not filter into my fasty again, I covered it with a car cover and tied it down with rope so that the water's friend, wind, can't take the car cover off.

My NS1 and NS4 is being delivered on Thursday, so now all I need to do is sort my self with some sanding paper and the real work can begin.

Dirk, dont keep that cover on long as the car will start to go mouldy, inside and outside. If you know its not going to rain for a few days, I suggest you take the cover off. If you dont believe me, pop round and see what my golf looks like.

Got you on the cover thing. I'll not leave it on, but I needed to do something about the water getting in, so that was the solution for now. My NS1 and NS4 arrives tomorrow so the cover will be coming off soon.

Well, today things started coming together.

First off, I received my NS1 and NS4, 2 liters of both, and at a rather good price to.

So, I arrived home tonight and jumped into action. As luck would have it, Wayne popped in for a few and between the two of us we sanded down the boot lid and gave it, it's first cote of NS1.

All in all, a good day

I ran of to the scrap yard today and got lucky, found two front fenders for my fasty, rusted but more reparable than the ones I have currently.
So I'll be using them in the restoration and keeping the old ones as spare for the unforeseen.
I also managed to scavenge some brackets and a set of those hinges used on the passenger windows that allow them to be opened and closed.
Then I took the time to grab the oil pipe in-lets from both the fasties at the scrap yard, so they are in the process of being reconditioned. One of them is in quite good nik.

There was also a water bottle that I scavenged for Chris

I did all this disassembly myself, at the scrap yard, using my tools. Just had to make sure my precious parts didn't get screwed up by some half intoxicated attendant, as I've seen them destroy perfectly good parts in seconds, using alcohol-lubricated nervous systems and second or even third rate tools.

So, when I finally got home, poorer in some ways and richer in others. I sanded down the boot lid again and gave it another cote of NS1. While that was drying I started cleaning the left fender I brought from the scrap yard. After a while I sanded the boot lid down again and gave it it's third and final cote of NS1. And then the real cleaning started.

(NOTE: Inventors should use sand as glue, I did not realize that caked on mud could stick to metal like that.)

Finally all the mud (should be called rock actually) is off, after much toil and troubles.
Already NS1'd the right fender, the left will be done tomorrow or Wednesday.

Next on the immediate tasks for completion, is the floorpan.

I plan to fix and re-inforce it with fibre-glass.
