That dreadful Laurel looked exactly like the one in the pic below - it was the same weird metallic pink-bronze colour, I don't think there were a lot made in any other colour than that anyway

My dad still has a valiant VIP - before that he had a Regal which he towed the boat with, that thing is K@k strong even on a slipway. With widened back wheels it had a lot of traction.
Ek het een keer gehoor dat 'n V8 'n baie christilike kar is. as die motor idle sê hy: god-god-god-god en as jy hom trap sê hy: jjjjjjjjeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssssssss

No, they just had a mouse for a mascott. That fugly nose was used on very little cars. They mostly concentrated on T3,T25,Vanagon, whatever you wanna call it. I had one done by Jan Teken, the JT3000. The other crowd was Daan Jacobs. I had no overheating or gearbox problems and it towed my caravan like a dream. A lot of these suffered from gearbox problems though. Suppose it depended how you drove it. When VWSA launched the 2.5, most of these companies whent under. You could only convert so many Toyota Ventures.

Blitz is correct, MAUS performance specialised in Datsun/Nissan conversions, especially the Hardbody and 1400. The company belonged to two brothers MArius and KobUS - so the MAUS name was from their names.
