I really hope you checked the temp rating of those oil lines. Most oil hose isnt rated to the temp that oil reaches in an engine.
Then the question: Why?

Haans, You need to be careful of over cooling your oil.

Oil must get to running temp.

And every now and then exceed 100 Deg. C to get rid of the water condensate in your crank case.

Your aircooled can run constant art 105 to 110 C as long as you have a diesel oil in it.

The only reason the racing cars have them is because they run the motor at max revs and max power. then they need oil cooling but road cars do not.

It is actually bad for them to run cold. Thats why in cold climates they shut off the air flow to heat the engine faster to avoid damage.

I added scoops and sump extension because of the upgrade to 1915 cc , they run hot till they run-in.

save yourself the effort. You cannot get a new 2L fuel pump.
You must run electric, 3psi

Herman, you cannot overcool the oil the way he has done it.
It is still regulated by the oil pressure valves, so it will still shut off the oil to the cooler if it cools enough, just like it would if it was stock.
If the stock cooler wasnt enough, then it will work to keep the oil at the correct temp.

Haansm I hope you have blocked off the air from going to the original cooler area, otherwise you will just be pushing extra air out via the cooler duct and thus running the heads and barrels warmer than they should be.

I will run the Shell rimula RX4 stuff,....it is a diesel oil not ?

It is an engine without a doghouse cooler,......original cooler removed, as can be seen in pic. Single port.

The quad bike fan on the new cooler will be switched on / off as I think temp will rise,."with the help of an oil temp gauge as well as oil pressure gauge nogal !

I am concerned about oil line ratings ??. Procured to handle pressure up to 12bar,.....and person that sold it said he used on a turbo supply on his golf. ????????? So I took his recommendation ,......what say you

Not sure if I am correct, but the pressure system only works if your oil is the correct condition,

as well as cold or hot, due to thickness, not temperature.

What I mean is the spring is pressure set, and not bi metal temperature sensitive.

But yes if he has a temp. control on the flow, it will work if set correct.

A bit dom with links,....can someone help with......this guy took 100 engines and put it through a battery of tests,...fitted 6 off them with 30mm pumps and I believe some ruptured the coolers,.....interesting reading

That thread is good reading but you need to pay close attention to each situation, temp and pressure for each case.
To get proper temp control on our oil systems, you need to get away from the stock oil cooler plumbing and pressure valves.
Take the oil out of the main oil gallery and then return it to the oil gallery. Route it to the cooler via a real thermostat.
I wouldn’t trust 12 bar oil hose. I run Teflon hose steel braided. 270degC and 300bar. It’s not cheap but it’s cheaper than a new engine should the hose pop

Also note that when removing the cooler out of the non-doghouse fanshroud, you upset the air flow and end up with uneven cooling of the cylinders in a way that is worse than the original design which would cook #3. At least that is what I have read....

Tony, is it 3psi or 3 bar? I was advised to get an electric fuel pump with 3bar capacity, like this one:

3 Psi 3 Bar would be closer to fuel injection pressure

the recommended pressure for VW solex is 2.5 Psi (Ponds Per Square Inch)

1 Bar is one atmosphere, and one atmosphere is 14 psi

As there is 14 psi in a BAR, 3 Bar would be 42 psi

Way too high for a carb needle and seat.
