It has a set of SS trumpet exhausts on at the moment.
Let me see if I can get it test run next weekend at Dave Rowley's place just to make sure all is good don't want to sell anyone a lemon.

So far I have invested R13500 in this engine but it was built from scratch and I did a few extra things to it a stock rebuild wouldn't get(balancing, strengthen valvetrain,W100 cam,8 dowel and lighten flywheel etc)
Also curious how much an engine would sell like this as the basic long block itself cost about R9500 just in parts

Re: 1600 mild street engine buildup
Looks like Slak is taking this engine.
Its going to get test run at Dave's on saturday, big up to Dave R for letting me use his test stand for nothing I've just got to hook everything up on it by myself.

Hi ... if Slak didn't take this engine ... I will immediately take it of your hands ... kindly let me know and goodluck with the surgery. I'm positive your daughter will recover 100%.
Kind regards,
Yugan

Re: 1600 mild street engine buildup/It's Alive
Well I ran the engine on Dave Rowley's test stand all went well so we broke the cam in by running it at 1800rpm for 20 minutes.
The carbs need to be fine tuned as well as a few glitches on the linkage but otherwise it ran well and is really smooth.
Here's a short video of the engine running, the clicking noise is the electric fuel pump.

Re: 1600 mild street engine buildup
Sounds good Edmond. Must break your heart to have to let it go after all the work.
I know its for a good cause but I am sure you must be a little sad.

Yes it really breaks my heart as it took me 2 1/2 years to collect parts and build this engine.Tony Z wrote:Sounds good Edmond. Must break your heart to have to let it go after all the work.

I put many hours into this engine making sure everything was 100%, I was a little nervous when it starting up for the first time but all was good.
The motor really sounded good as the cam break in period was coming to an end.
Big up to Dave Rowley for helping out with the cam break in he made sure the carbs were set right and made sure the engine stayed at 1800 rpm as well as constantly monitoring the engine throughout the 20 minute period.
Good news is that the doctors bills are about R4000 less than what was quoted as the doc did not need to shorten the femmer bone and put a plate and pins in it so I might look around for a complete s/h engine at some stage if there is some extra money.

Re: 1600 mild street engine buildup/Farewell to Engine
Engine is all crated up ready for its lucky new owner Slak.
I spent the the past 2 weeks custom making a fully enclosed crate for the engine, don't want it to get damaged in transit.
That is the end of this thread for me

U didn't have to but U did anyway ! THANK U
next time U build an engine and need some spares
U'v got first dibs on whatever i have
Hope U'r little girl gets out of the cast soon and things

Re: 1600 mild street engine buildup
Thanks for the kind words Slak.
Im glad the engine is going to a good home, I hope it arrives there all intact.
I might start looking around for a cheap type 1 motor to rebuild, something to keep me busy at night on the weekends.
My daughter has 3 weeks left in the spica cast, then a broomstick cast goes on for another 6 weeks, she is still the happy little girl she has always been.

Well Im sure she will adjust quickly and am glad to hear things are working out.
Slak you better take pictures when it arrives and a clip when you start it up in its new home.

Slak I hope you post some pics of the engine now that you dressed it up in all its bling for all the other forum members to see
