Another stupid Q :
Can a type 1 engine be fitted into a notch?
If it can, what are the drawbacks? Would this be ok to do? Has it been done?

I'd be asking what was done in the motor and also want to see proof. Too many sell "recon" motors when in fact it's not.
if the main bits were replaced, new bearings and worn out bits replaced, then 6500 isn't bad

Is it ok to shagg both the Mother and the daughter? Or should the mother never find out about the involvement with the daughter???

Re: The place to ask your "Stupid Questions" thread!!
Is the DIzzy screwed if at Maximum advance it is sitting at 43 degree's? Vacuum dizzy's aren't as great as all say, this puma's timing is a bit strange. Prefer my 009!
Do you get different width front fenders? mine look like there is about and inch difference in width between the two?
I'm thinking it is best to just buy two new fenders from Volkspares.
on the same note, do you get get different width rear fenders?
which are better, EMPI silicone gearbox boots or normal standard gearbox boots?

take the vac lead off the dizzy canister when you are setting your max advance. Set it to 30deg and plug the lead back in. When you rev it up you will see it go back to 44 or 46 or whatever... dont worry about that, its perfectly fine.

Re: The place to ask your "Stupid Questions" thread!!
Shot Tony, I've only ever played with my 009, and the Porsche never had timing issues so never had to look at that dizzy...
but explain why it is allowed to advance past 32 degrees then? the 009 you set to 32 (or less by a degree or 2) at maximum advance. surely you are heading for shit if you carry on advancing past that point? ie, overheating and pinging and and and
tempted to go find 009's for the puma's and lolette...

Just disconnect the Vacuum line and you have a 009.

Re: The place to ask your "Stupid Questions" thread!!
dont worry about it James. The max advance on centrifugal is 28 to 32. That is the max advance an engine can handle at full throttle (no vac). when cruising on the highway, you use less fuel, feed in less air and thus the flame speed is slower, which means you need to increase your advance to get the spark plug timing right. Flame moves slower, so spark needs to be earlier. This is what saves you fuel, the extra advance under part throttle. Will also reduce exhaust temperatures and make exh valves live longer.
Make sense?

Re: The place to ask your "Stupid Questions" thread!!
Shot Tony, does make sense more or less when you look at it like that. I just set the puma to 7.5 or 8 degrees at idle, so timing should be fine. thanks for the clearing up of my lack of knowledge on vacuum dizzys, never really needed to know them before...

Re: The place to ask your "Stupid Questions" thread!!
I had red silicone EMPI boots on the axles of HW1 for the better part of 3 years, never had a problem with them. It is just important to install them with the seam (where the two ends gets bolted together) angled towards the front. The boots were probably the only parts that could still be used after the incident with the truck at Gillooly's...
