Nothing as of yet, Armand's still a busy man and I have to get some final parts to him before he's going to start.

Cam and rings for the pistons are first on the list, hopefully I can get the rings today and then it's phoning around for the cam to be cut.

One thing's for sure though. The longer we take, the better the ideas get............lol.

No cam followers yet......I'm considering dropping my badge order as the R vs $ is naaing me at the moment and put that R2500-00 into ordering parts for the motor locally.

Yup, There are some ppl in Pta that can cut the cam, but I like the fact that Sean actually knows what he's talking about.

Pierre? What do you think of my choice in cut? The 86?

Valve Lift: .423/.423

Duration: 270°/270°

DURATION
@ 0.050": 234°/234

Don't think it's a bit too mild for my set-up?

Personally I would go for something more in the 280 -285 range remember you not got a bus to pull around the speedster is alot lighter
Issint the Oettinger aroung 270 for torq in the WBX

I got a 316 for you  :D

Just a stupid Question

Why do you want to go for a cut cam when you can get Billets from the states
Billets are so more forgiving on the valve train and follower wear

$$$

Webcam Billets work out with shipping close to 2K. I'm not going to be beating on this engine........I just want a bit more low down power........I dont' want a screamer.

Wondering about the 494 grind from webcam.

Valve Lift: 465/.465

Duration: 280°/280°

DURATION @ 0.050": 244°/244°

494 (Designed for increased torque with added RPM power. ) $166-00........but the guys won't deal with the small guy.

I was looking at the oettinger grind, but I dunno.

As for the 316.......pass, too much for me.

Once the seatcover also drives it occasionally and you get stuck in traffic youl be glad the cam is milder
I had a vw 13 from ritcie Jute in my old fastback and the missis hated it that had about 280 degrees duration

Well my wife has NO  interest in the speedster whatsoever as for starters:

1) she can't see out of the window, you sit VERY low in it, hell I struggle and I'm 1.84 tall, she's about 1.6.
2) It messes up her hair........

I know that she'll change her mind once I have the car done and resprayed........

I'm sticking with the 86, I think a 270 cam is more than enough for my needs.......I should have it done in the next week or so.

I also ordered the badges yesterday, no going back now, bye bye R3000-00.

Hey Kev

Nothing yet, I got an email from Jim yesterday saying that the porsche scripts are on back order because his supplier is out and should hopefully have in the first week or two of April. I've told him to wait and ship all at once.

I'm not waiting for replicars, I've tried getting hold of Johan a few times and even tried calling him, but the dude's just not getting back to me. I'll take my money elsewhere.

I have a few things waiting to happen, but it's all hanging on my generator to get the car moving. I'm having it rebuilt so that the charging system is reliable, but it's taking a while. Once that is done, I can get the car to my fibreglass buddy, so he can do my new dash pad, new dash, minor repairs to the body and the bumper mods for the spot lights and badges.

I have my select-a-drop that's still waiting to go on, but I'm looking for another beam that I can molest and use that for my discs kit, get it 100% working and then just swop it over. Between all of this I also have to make time for the re-spray as well, luckily the body is almost 100%, so there really isn't much prep work.

On the 2.0 side, I'm dropping off the cam to be cut on Friday. Cut is the 86 from webcam which is a 270°. Then it's rings for the motor and I think that work can start on the sub assembly...........I'm hoping that when I got through to Orkney at the end of April, I'll have the missing items for the engine.

I'll be driving it to work on Friday hopefully if the weather is good.................(i.e. anything but snow and hail, I'll drive it)
