Well its been a while and I have finally done a little work to the car. Nothing major, more like 1 step forward, 3 steps back. Nothing but more setbacks which take time.... dead batteries and chargers that have stopped working and need repair.... the usual crap you go thru.

Anyway, I did get the engine started this morning and was shocked at how quickly it revs. The attached video is in real time, not sped up. OK, the car is in neutral but still, its damn fast. But alas, the exhaust pipe is still trying to burn the car down....

Did the exhaust wrap not work?

Didnt use the exhaust wrap, I used a thermal barrier shield. Its suppoed to stop 95% of heat transfer to protect items like wires from the exhaust pipe.... didnt work, so cut out the rubber engine bay rubber.... and guess what???

engine wont start now, looks like the plugs are choked. Black black black, will have to clean them properly and maybe get a few spares. Alas, tomorrow is another day, lets see how it goes, if I get to do any work on it or not.

I'm absolutely amazed as to how quickly this engine revs

the thing that gets me isnt only how quickly it revs, check how quickly the revs drop off..... this isnt even a fully lightened flywheel, I could have had another 500grams taken off without drilling it...

You sure that the rev counter is calibrated correctly because that's fast without fuel injectors?

it was always pretty close to what the speed and gear ratios should have given... We'll have to see when I get the car dyno'd

A lot of standing, some pushing around, a lot of noise "WHEN" it's running, and a whole lot of going nowhere slowly!!!!
