Did you do the paint job yourself? and how old are you?
Hi Im 17 and yes I did the paint my self. I cant exactly afford to send it in so Iv done every thing my self. My parents have contributed for tiers and th odd other things.

I spent the day welding in a plate under the heater channel and fixing the odd imperfections in the paint. Now I just need a hot day so I can give her 2 more layers of paint. After that the body is going onto the pan for good. I also placed the seats in the body and WOW it looks amazing. The new tiers, New Hubcap clips and sand blasted, painted rims have all been put on and that makes it look even better. I will take photos as soon as I have the body back on the pan with the seats inside.

Cheers :hangloose:

Excellent job! :hangloose: It will mean so much more to you in the end, the fact that you've done everything yourself. Keep up the good work!

What buffing machine would you guys recommend? I'm not going to use it often so it does not have to be the best of the best

Wow. I wanted to do the paint job on my car also. But I was scared that I will make a mess and my father did not want me to. So he paid for everything. I am also 17 years old, or almost 17. Good to see I am not the only youngster

Nice, There are now 4 youngsters on the forum that I know of ( My Bug, 1972 ) I cant wait till I am able to drive my beetle around town. I got the body on the pan and put the back seat in. Please will some one give me a tip on putting the wiring harness back through the roof. I spent Like Half an hour trying to pull it through from the back to the front with a piece of wire.

Through the roof?????

Ive only seen them go along the floor in the ones ive stripped.
Why do we celebrate the guy that invented the wheel??
Surely we must celebrate the guy tat invented the other three

Ya the wires go through the left hand side roof gap thing. It came out like that and is the same in boggo. I could put it along the floor but It looks much neater through the roof channel thing.

I have started doing the wiring and a few other things. I also got the doors to line up and wow do they close nicely :hangloose: Do any of you know where I can get a pre-made headliner for a beetle in SA because I cant put in any of the rear windows with out the roof lining in. :(

Cheers :hangloose:

You can ask Sharon. And tell her Eugene gave you the number, and she will give you discount. My wiring harnas costed origionaly R798 and she gave it for me, for about 650.
