44mm intake valves $18.00 each x 4
38mm exhaust valves $18.00 each x 4
44mm seats $10.00 each x 4
38mm seats (non in stock)

Just for that lot minus springs, we're looking at about $189.00/ R1500.00 (shipping/ duties excluded)

Springs are an extra $34.95 for the set of 8, so add on another R272.61 Dual springs are the same price, but obvious have 16 in the pack.

Seems roff...........plus we're still seats short on the exhaust side of things.............what you think?

Finally managed to get hold of a complete front beam that I can now start my disc brake conversion as well as to weld in my select-a-drops.

I also have some updates on more stuff coming in soon as well as the body mods.

Generator STILL isn't back yet.................grrrrrrrrrrr

Got the generator back and tried to re-fit..........issues...........

The keyway slot on the pully side had been squashed so that the keyway won't fit in as well as the thread on the pully side had been damaged and to top it all off, the shaft has been bent.................oi vey, will this damn thing never be sorted. Sent it back, hopefully may get it back tomorrow.

Then I found out that the shop kept the shaft collar, so I had to pull apart my old spare that I got from brianj to move it over.





Put it all together only to find out that it was binding somewhere. Phoned Dirk and told him that something was up as I've put this back the same way that I took it apart and it's binding, I ended up giving him the whole unit back after he said that he would sort it out for me.

Ended up being a spacer/ washer that was inverted on the bearing and this in turn was causing the bearing to be squeezed. Hence the binding. Got it sorted and refitted it no problem.

I am honestly, never going to use this shop again, firstly, they took the better part of a MONTH to do my generator, then once they did it, they still mamaged, to foul the keyway slot as well and bend the generator shaft.

On the Update side, I have started a new engine compartment seal for the bay and have also had the rear gearbox engine plate braised up and painted so that can also now be fitted, as well as work has also started on the new door panels and trim for them, waiting on a WHOLE lot of stuff to arrive, badges, piston rings, door pulls, everything seems slow right now, I have to keep myself amused and also fired up enough to keep this project going.

I have some pictures to update by Wednesday of the new exhaust fitted as well.

Unlucky on the gen.....those things happen sometimes. Better less than more though.

hhmmm.....i'm going to have to go throught he same process with my engine bay. PLEASE hang on to any pics you have. I was thinking about using that airconditioning insulation stuff. We'll see how it goes, but that may be the easiest. At the moment i have nothing, 0, Nada!! Not even a anything!! Hopefully i can start climbing back into it in a couple of weeks. aahhhh well....all in good time.

I stripped the panel off over the weekend and have started fabbing a fibreglass lip for it where I can mount the AC insulation type of stuff on it. The whole valence is just screwed into the rear sub frame, so it's not really that hard to take off, modify and to refit. I have taken a lot of pictures for this and will post them when it's all done, I don't want to post in drips or drabs.

The lip itself is about 2cm wide facing down, this way it's going to look neat and work well. I still have the cowling to put back at the back that's now been brased and painted and now just needs fitting, then my mate can extend the valence to cover the gaps at the back as well. Hopefully this'll take care of some obvious heating issues that I'm having with the 1500.

Don't you even have the rear valance that fits around the engine?

I actually got a call from Dirk now to tell me that my generator is back and I can pick it up tonight at his place, so if all goes well, I can have it fited back tonight and hopefully get it on the road as well. I'm trying to keep the car driveable at all times, even if it looks crap..........I don't care much.

The exhaust is a stock beetle twin piped sucker......as my 2.0 is erm........different (to say the least) I'm not spending too much money on getting this one running nice as it's only a temp engine till the other one is done.

i have absolutley nothing around the engine. If i look down the back i see gearbox, and floor the rest of the way round. i have to start from scratch.

Dude, if you ask me really nicely, I can ask Willem to make up one from mine while it is out. Just dunno how I'm going to get it to you.......

Ps, I'm having Willem also do the proper dash cap as well as the speedo hump, seeing that he's doing mine, might be a good time to get a copy pulled off mine........

Seeing that he quoted me for repairing the front bumper, making spotlight mounts, repairing door handle, repairing crack on top of the door, fitting guages, filling radio hole as well as making a mount for the rear hood popper a GRAND TOTAL of R400-00.

I don't think that he'll charge much for what you want.

She's running again........managed to finally get the new generator in as well as replaced the brand new regulator that was faulty. I'm out of pocket R180 on that as midas don't give a guarantee on electrical cimponents, Dirk reckons that it can be set a bit as it is charging, but not enough.

Got a nice ride on Sunday, only to have the car spluttering a lot, I was telling dirk, that it could be fouled plugs, dirty carb etc. I found out yesterday what it was.

Decided to drive to builders warehouse to buy a new tape measure and climbed in the car, started her up and started my trip, short drive about 5 kms, still a bit weary with driving too far. Got there no problems, climbed in the car to drive back and all of a sudden the car dies............still had power, so something was up. Now erm, I've been trying to sort out my type 3 gauges and erm, they still have a few bugs in them, example.......gauge reads 1/2 full where it in fact is totally bloody empty...............Yup, I ran out of juice, luckily about a km from home.

Got back, put 2 litres in the car and she started up fine after pulling some juice in the carb. Waiting to get my jack stands back and then I can finish off the rear cowling work. New door cards and modified locking units are also almost done. I've had some stuff to do around the house, so the progress on my side is going to be slow. At least next time I'll see IMPI, he'll have the cam as well as the rings for my 96's.........

Me too, but I had to work the morning, we don't get all SA holidays like you guys.
