just a short update,

Received the other Rear fender so now we have the 4 corners covered.

Fitter the front fenders and replaced the apron with a custom cover to hold the severed section of the Hood.

You may ask," moer, why did you do that .?? ".

Well as said before the gear linkages are right where the bonnet catch and lock is, so the bonnet will not close.

So approx. 200 mm of the bonnet was cut off and is now fixed to the apron.

The cut sections have had a plate welded in to stiffen and round off the two half's.

Will now look for bonnet locks.

Will be doing the side skirts next, and then the rear fenders.

Till next time

Herman

Received my new CV joints today,

That would be Opel 1.8 Front outer CV's, and 100mm Golf 2 Inner CV's

Will how ever have to wait till Jan 2020 to get the 4 drive shafts and have then cut and spliced into the right length to fit MeFusco

Will try to engineer the back fenders today, have a plan in my head, not sure if it will workout as well on the truck.

Till later.

So to prevent confusion, I have add some photo's.

The bonnet / hood has been cut / welded / installed and I think it works well without loosing the "Beetle " feeling.

The fenders worked out exactly as I had hoped, and gives it the "Sad Puppy" look

Hope you enjoy the look.

Herman

Thanks Guys, much appreciate it.

Started working on the rear fenders and came to a very upsetting conclusion,

The Fat back light fenders will not work....S#!t

Was so looking forward to having the big back lights., Oh well ...

The problem is overall width, need to keep the back within 2400mm and the fender has to be cut to get to that size.

That means I need to cut right through the back lights position to get the right effect.

This I was not going to do to two perfectly good fenders that someone else can use as is.

So please see the 1303 fender thread, viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39018&p=333962#p333962

OK so that said, I am back to my old Oval fenders,

but need to not only widen them but also cut them to fit square as I do not have the tapered back end of the beetle.

So here goes...

Made Arch ribs to match the fenders,

Image

then had to widen the fenders to get the right width....

Image

Image

Once I had the wide fender, I could cut it down to a square fender of the right width...

Image

Image

Image

Then I had to fit the back cover and mounting ....

Image

Test fitting it to see if it will work, in both tail down as well as tail up positions. Keeping mind that I will be fitting air suspension at the back to make loading easy and to drop the ass with the wheel fully inside the fender, and when up for driving, it not too high to look silly.

Next I will have to make templates for the other side before fixing it in place with all its brackets and things.

One thing is sure, the fender will still be able to bolt off as it did on the original Beetle

Till next time
