Hey Guys

Ya, been quiet and saw Pine posted the photo of me collecting my new car.
It is a demo model, 2013 "21st Century Beetle"
It is the 2013 model 1.4TSI sport DSG (awesome box), got the paddles and the tiptronic audi vibe as well.
features it has are:
18" wheels
panoramic sunroof
keyless entry
heated leather seats
touch screen entertainment system with an SD card slot (i have 32GB of music in that thing)
dual zone climate control
so much stuff

In this spec, and being a demo model, i saved at least R100K. at LEAST

So ya, it is a very awesome car.

BEST BITS!!!!!!!!!!
This car takes a lot of design details (not that there are many) from an Oval beetle.
The dash has the centre console flanked by 2 airvents with horizontal slots, and all is surrounded by a chrome 'lip'. So it is just like the centre grill in an oval!
The rearview mirror is shaped like an oval and when you look, the rear window appears to be like an oval window. has the grab handle. speedo smack bang in front of you.

It is just like a modern oval. And the pano roof is like a modern ragtop. Awesome car!

Update: All this happened since I last updated...

Now that the DC is out the garage Im hoping to get the work started on this one again, panelvan is still keeping me busy with some issues.

Made two rotisseries one for the pan and one for the body. Makes it all so much easier

Also started fixing up the fenders.

I got most of the body back to bare metal just to have it all covered in surface rust again after not getting to it in about three months now.
Since the last update I managed to get a good donor body(non oval), with a very solid pan. So off came the ovals sheet metal fixer pans and the donor pan halves.
Been stripping all the gunk off the pans and the 56 frame. Next step is to get the solid pan halves back onto the ovals frame. Need to cover up some of the holes.

Need to somehow protect and cover the inside of the frame, Lots of crusty rust. Any ideas ?

Also got the wheels for the oval.
Front is 4.5 rear is 5.5

Think you will have to do the edit on the 1st post @Tony Z Else it will keep going back to the old title...-- no?

Or Mince will have to do it????

How is Mince doing.??

@Donovan D Well done on the progress so far, wish I was this far with my Oval...

No Retro

If you click on post reply instead of quick reply, you can change the topic title there... so any reply after that post is a reply to the new title

The first posts will still have the old title

This one MIGHT be up for sale.

I have come across another potential project car, no deals have been made yet.
If the deal however does happen this might go as I wont have the time/finances to finish off both. So for know the add is up just to see if it even is worth selling compared to what I have already spent on it.
