I came home after a brief walk, my wife was in her PJ's (2 in the afternoon) reading to my daughter on the bed when I walked in, she was not impressed. Even less so when I said, "just get in the car pj's and all"........

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
I have run out of petrol in the 58 a couple of times as it has no guage (no fault of mine).
On one occasion get stuck on the old Vereeniging road near Koppiesol resort after picking up some parts. I phone the wife to bring my 5L petrol can (I always have petrol in the garage for bench starting) I didn't want to just leave the car on the side of the road and go get some petrol. My wife's sence of direction is not the best but she had been to Koppiesol a couple of times and claimed she would find it. I phone her about half hour later and she has just turned off the R554 on to the old Vereeniging road. In the mean time a old man stops to admire the 58 and offers to get me some petrol 15 min later he is back with 5l and I start up the bug and phone the wife, she tells me she is lost and has no idea where she is. I tell her to back track and I head off in the direction she calims she is. After driving around for 15 min she phones me as she has found the N1 and is at the Grasmeere tolgate, and will find her way home from there, I was home for about 15min when she turns up. Guess I was not the most popullar dude around, and her response, "now you know why I hate those Fu#3king shit cars" shame she will just not unerstand.

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
^^^^LMAO!!
I dreaded leaving my car on the side of the road, but I luckily parked outside someones house on their grass and it just looked like I was visiting, I pulled up the roof, locked everything up, removed anything of value and told the owner of the house that I'd give him R50 if he stays in his front garden for 30 minutes to watch it.
I was happy, he was happy...............lol.

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
Finally some good news, I thought that my ebay purchases and my stuff from Jim at KLASSE had gone missing, but I got it all today.
All my badges are here, with shipping, customs and all of that, I paid about R3300-00. A far cry from the R6900-00 now wanted by Carrera Motors in Jhb. I'll post some pictures later today. Quite a lot of money for 6 badges and a few stickers. But it's the small details that are going to set my car off from the rest.
From Ebay. Dash grab for $7 (real 356 unit), Lower foot vents $20 (real 356 units), Reutter build badge $15, Steel wheel badges $36, Leather door straps + ali braces $25, Interior post mirror $25 (356 unit), 356 tail lights (amber & red) $100.
I have some stuff on order with Rui which I'm expecting in the next month or so.
Besides that, now it's onto my engine, Still have to get some time to pick up my cam, hopefully tomorrow if all goes well.
Stay tuned, after this weekend, I shoudl have my side of the fibreglass stuff done.

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
My haul

All the clips and mounting hardware.

Decals for the engine bay and windscreen.

One of my select-a-drops that has to go on my new beam.

And from this load, my electronic ignition.

Pics of the rest of the ebay stuff next week. The sad thing is, all of this now just gets packed back in the box till the car is resprayed.

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
Thanks guys
Managed to do some more work on the rear valence this weekend.

Removed which by the way is a total beeeeyotch with the 4 into 2 exhaust, but luckily by the time it'll go back on, the other exhaust will be in.
The bottom side this thing is held on my 4 pop rivets..........
I attached a lip (aka, some left over window blind ali), Attached it with foil tape to give me a nice 2cm lip all around the edge. The reason for this is that the KCC speedster never came out with a channel in order to mount an engine compartment rubber, so I'm going to mount the Kombi style gasket that was found on the bay's in my speedy.

Ground off a nice section with the grinder so that the new glass can have a nice grip. With the nice weather, the outer section dried in about an hour. What's nice is when you pull off the ali blind material, it leaves a nice smooth edge, I sanded this to get it rough again and then laid the inner glass section, ran out of resin, so the rest of the inner will have to wait for the weekend.

What my garage currently looks like, ( I have so much work to do, believe it or not, it's about 100 times cleaner than it was, if I can just get the house stuff out of there, then I'll be set to work on the car.

My other ebay purchase, finally got a neck for my white guitar that I made when I was 16. (man I love ebay)

I told Jim to expect a email order from you, the guy is top notch.Rabid_ant wrote:Nice!!! gotta get my order in for emblems very soon....Looking good G!
If you think that lot is nice, you should see what's coming, going to shock a WHOLE lotta ppl....The SA speedsters are actually missing about R20 000 worth of little trinkets that the US ones have.Blitzkrieg_Beetle wrote:Damn! You're really going all out on this project

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
Ps Kev, WIllem came back with a price of R400-00 for the rear valence, interested?
No price on the dash clip as he wants to have mine off to see it first.

Re: 1.5 KCC 356 Porsche Speedster
Yeh, i think so. Let him go ahead, like i said, i currently have nothing and would be glad to spend the money to get it. Let me know if you'd like me to send you the cash or directly to him etc. I'm gonna plan a trip to sort out loads of parts up there, windscreen, trim, goodies
etc. so i'll just add that to the stuff that has to get shipped. (Bit worried about the windscreen though).
