Thanks for the heads-up, much appreciated.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Re: My 181 - Kubel - Trekker - Thing
Look what peeped its head out of my workshop today under its own power.

There is still lots to do. Tomorrow I want to get its wheel alignment done. Then is of to the Crankhandel Natter on Sunday morning.
The last time the Kubel ran, was to a Natter last year so I really wanted to let its first run be to a natter.

Tom, you forgot the number plates! Or is that why you were driving on the pavement??

Re: My 181 - Kubel - Trekker - Thing
Thanks for the good words guys.
This morning I got to my shop early. The rear castle nuts got tightened, front drum grease cap fitted and the speedo cable attached. The number plates got put in the window and I were off to Speedy in Paarden Eiland for wheel alignment. Driving the back streets I got to Speedy and they were closed.
So it was off to Hi-Q in Milnerton. On the way to milnerton I had a Metro Cop on my tail. I Expected him to pull me of for not numberplates but he gave me the thumbs up as he passed.
The guys at Hi-Q set my alignment and told to come back again in a few 100KM's and they would check it again after everything had settled.
Then it was back to my shop. The number plates got fitted and a few odd and sods. In the afternoon The fuel tank got fitted and the timing set.
The bad news is that I have a serious oil leak on the right tappet cover but that is next weeks problems. For tommorows natter I am simply taking a 5L oil can for a ride.
At the end of the day I have driven 26.7KM. My project is mobile.

I have only had it up to 60KM/h and for the next 100 odd I dont plan on going much faster. Just want to make sure I tighted all the nuts and bolts but I am sure that I have.
It is good to ride a Covert again

This pic is of last nights friend.

Re: My 181 - Kubel - Trekker - Thing
Thanks again guys.
Yesterday I got to my shop at 9:30 swopped cars and were on the road to Plumstead by 9:45.
A mist/ low cloud made it a bit cold and then I remembered this Kubel had heaters. Man, This is life. Traveling on a cool morning with warm air wafting around and nothing above your head. You feel free and comfortable. At one time I said to my wife that weather seems to be warming until I stuck my hand above the windscreen. The air was cold.
Here are some of the pics I took at the Natter.

If you look above my windscreen You will see another 181 in the parking lot.

At one time I thought HR had joined us.

BTW: I assume you guys know that you can click on the thumbnails for a LARGER Picture.
