Thanks everyone!
I'm also very excited and can't wait to get them!
The pics I have aren't great,I will ask him for more detailed pics of the cars to see what is needed to get them on a trailer,
and how much work there will be to get them up and running again!

Lucky bugger! Those single cabs looks quite complete. If you are building 1 from the two, please let me know if you do sell parts, as it looks like you have rear bumpers for both. I need a rear bumper and rear valance.

So, I was interrested in buying another '71 beetle yesterday, smsd the guy and he told me its sold and its being collected late yesterday evening.
This morning calls me up, and guess what, the buyer didnt have quite enough so he kept a little something back, I managed to twist his arm and voila...

Through 2 forum members I came across a chap called Anton Dekker who had something that lit a spark that I was after for ages.
An original speedo, temp gauge and a tach from a porsche 912. Almost identical to the 356 units that I've been after for years. I flat did not want to buy the knock offs as they may look the part, but guys reckon that they don't last.
Price?..........R300 each/ R900 for the lot. Total bargain in my books. Thanks to Armand for picking up on them and to Wernher (sp) for forwarding me Anton's details.

Pics will come when they are cleaned up a little but there were 2 of those ^^ in our bus. I have not yet tested either but if they both work I might make one available to somebody that needs.

What do these come out of? The fuel guage in the kombi aint working so i got these from the previous owner to try and fit to the kombi, however he and me are not sure to which vehicle these actually belong. Any ideas?

I know the lower left gauge comes from a 412, perhaps the upper one too, but I have no idea for the guage on the right.

Not my find, but very interesting find....
flyboat wrote:I have been watching a 1968 type 3 squareback for nearly twenty years. It has been in a barn ever since I first saw it. I bought some motorcycle parts from a co-worker and it was in the barn then. . When I picked them up, I discovered this squareback. This week I decided it was time to ask the owner about selling it. she said yes and she is the original owner. It needs a good buff job and new hoses. the car is a survivor and is near perfect. Only slight surface rust, It should be easy to make it a driver. I will leave it as is. Pictures to come later. I am sure you can understand my excitement

Haven't visited much lately but I have an amazing find you might enjoy hearing about
20 years ago or so, I went to a co workers house to pick up some Harley Davidson parts I was buying from him. When we went into the barn to get the parts, off in the corner sat a lonely 1968 type 3 Squareback. The car was all original and in good shape, no rust. I asked about it and the guy said it was some relative of the family.
Just this past week, I decided to investigate to see if the car was still there ans would the owner sell it. It was still there and the owner would sell it. She did not know what she had in the eyes of a ACVW enthusiast. She said she would sell it for $500 us. Then she said I should know the motor was put in the car new just before it was parked. Her brother owned it and he passed on and that is when the car got parked,
So, I will polish it and clean the interior and make it road worthy and leave that way. I call it "The Survivor" Pics will come after I pick it up

I'm as confused as you. I discovered this quote after posting teh two or three below it. That is a quote I made last week on "The Samba" That poster copied my post to this thread and added his pics. Although, I would love to have found those as well. He must be a frequent poster to both sites. Anyway, I guess I'm glad stuff gets around. I have not gotten pics of the Square yet. We'll get them soon.
I will post a pic of my latest work though
Thanks
Roger

Sorry for confusion, but the post, clearly shows two different barn finds, one from "Flyboat" and one from "notchboy"
They are two different "Quote" on one posting.
