Has any one ever widened the rear fenders?

You can also try getting rims with a different offset, if you have the usual front disk brake conversion, this might bring the tyres in just enough to avoid rubbing and a narrowed beam. Of course your mileage will vary....

Wider rear fenders were so popular at one point, you could (and probably still can) buy wide fender kits. Google is your friend

Ya, i put disc's and reverse adaptors on the front. Rear is still drums. You looking at the wheels sticking out up to two inches in the front. I run 185's but used to run 195's on the rear and those just cleared. The 185's are a more comfortable fit. Another problem i have picked up with running the tires outside the fenders is that you get alot of material thrown up from the road against the fender lip and it takes your paint off. also kicks up alot of mud and water that winds up on the doors and body under some condition. If you set on that look then go for it, you could make it work, but just be aware of the issues around it. otherwise you going to have to drive over speed bumps at <10km/h and make sure you have a nice smooth road where ever you drive.

Go with what James said. I've seen his bug. And the stance is perfect. Just enough of meat in the right way.

Hey guys I finish school on Wednesday but I'm going on a fishing trip to the hole in the wall till Monday. So work on scrappy will continue this time next week. I'm looking forward to it.

Work has started for the week and I'm busy putting in the roof lining which is a job to say the least, and Im half way through putting the carpeting in. After that will come the windows and I might even have an attempt to put the motor in so I can sort out the wiring. Then its just the body work on the fenders and both bonnets.

Things I still need are small things like seat belts and a fan belt ect.

The disk brakes are also functional and Iv got most of my cool goodies to go on the car once the windows are in.

Instead of me re-chroming the reflectors in the front head lights I bought a set of golf head lamps with ultra bright bulbs. Im going to secure them into the old reflectors so I can still adjust the angle of the light

The roof lining is a crap job!!!!! are you finished with your wiring? because I am strugling with the flasher unit...I think mine is not working anymore...can I fit an external flasher unit and pipass the hazard switch?

My beetle was 6v so Iv replaced it with a city golf relay. I'm not to sure exactly how the hazards work as the car did now come with them but I might have to added them for road worthy, I'm still working on that . So far the all the lights wiring is working (brights and dims) but I still need to install the lights so the wiring is working. Its just there are currently no electrical parts in the car except the speed and wipers.

Okay I have now pretty much finished the wiring (except actually putting in the lights). I also put the motor in yesterday but I have not started her up due some missing parts that I should hopefully be getting soon. She turns over fine and there is good oil pressure. Hoping for the best when I do try get her to start. Then PG glass is coming on Monday to install all the windows (besides the doors) I unfortunately wont be there to see as I'm going to be working in PE for the week. Iv started the body work on the bonnet but its going to take forever to finish it. Any way all is good, I'm getting there slowly.

Not to sure if I will be done as I only have another 10 days of holidays that I'm home. Even if I do get her running I don't think I will have completely sorted the papers, but I can always make a few swops when it comes to number plates and license disks if push comes to shove I will have to see But I am trying to get her ready. I just need to finish the body work!!! Most of the other things aren't a big problem at the moment
