You have to send the cow to the abatour when it is still un educated coz as soon as they get educated they get thick skinned :D
There is a place in PE called Josh Levi (I think), the couch leather is thinner than the car upholstery leather, an I used it with normal Empisal sewing mashine. Just use thicker thread and needle. 8)

Some updates. 30-05-2008

Myself and WIllem got busy this weekend, me stripping the car (which is actually more involved than you might think) and Willem doing his deed on the dash and on a few other spots.

Lights, trim, dash pods, hood, seats, interior, handles, indicators, bumpers, trim, licence plate mount, licence plate light, rear lock, reflectors. It all had to go. Even with us two speaking kak all the time, I still got the car stripped in about 3 hours. Taking out the windscreen was a slow affair as if that sucker brakes, it's another R2500-R3000 for a new one.

Some bad spots on the car, well in fact there were only two, one by the pass exterior handle and under the dash where there was a strange bubble, looked like an air pocket that was caught in the gel coat of the fibreglass, easy fix. The handle had been "repaired" previously, but it was very badly done and was filled with what looked like filler and nothing else.

There was a crack at the top of the door that I was worried about that I had Willem take down and he was happy to report that there was no issues underneath for him to fix.

All Stripped and bear looking. I really liked the indicators and the brakes lights that were used on my car, they are heavy units and are VERY good quality glass, so at the moment, I'm going to keep my pre-A style tail lights as why should I put a cheap and nasty set on just to have teardrops. I'll wait till a set of OG Porsche units come up and I'll buy them instead.

Starting to lay tape on the dash so that we can start work on that dash pad. It's nice to watch someone do his stuff that KNOWS what they are doing. I can lay glass as there is not really that much to it, but Willem knows those extra tricks that people can't learn from a book. It's from trial and error, and many years of it.

Here you can already see the gauges in the position that they are going to be in. These look Über cool and I put my faith in Willem and he really came through for me. I explained about 10 times what I wanted and the whole time he said "trust me". I had my doubts on how nice a set of type 3 gauges would look in a speedy dash, but they really do look the part.

Once the gauges are mounted correctly, then I'm going to get the faces repainted as well as the numbers done in green to mimmick the 356 unites.

The eyebrow will be made at a later stage and mounting clips will be attached to the dash pad in order to mount the unit on. Nice and clean. I've commissioned WIllem to make me a mould of this whole dash unit so that it can easily be replicated at a later stage for other people, cause I'm sure that once other speedy owners get a look at this unit, they'll want one as well.

Laying on the first few layers and it already starts to take shape. The dash has 2-3 layers on it and once this sucker is trimmed, will look sorted. It just looks so much better with the dash pad being extended to the middle of the dash and not just a cap on the top.

The Backside again, now with all of the trim removed. The lights are actually held on with the rubbers and nothing else, very nice and secure and the rubber are almost brand new, so I should get a lot more

All of the interior is stashed away in my cupboard awaiting polishing and re-assembly.

The trim is going to be done myself and the chrome units are going to be blasted and plated in the up-coming weeks.

Stay tuned.
