No such luck. Oil press gauge sits at zero.
i even took the stock pressure switch out of the case and cranked the engine over, no oil coming out of it....

4 options I can think of to start with...
1) check strainer (if I have mine installed, cant remember)
2) check that oil pickup tube is still in the case
3) check oil pump
4) check hoses for blockage (this might move to #1)

I am getting my other car back tomorrow, so will make a turn with some tools and have a quick look. We can discuss options from there.

I'm wondering how much all the recent mods have to do with the problem. Would be interesting to hear what you find.

Fingers crosssed man. Nothing sucks more like all the work you put in to get an engine done, just for it not to work after a short while. I know the feeling. It is now 2 years since I first finished the transporter engine, ran not even for 10mins in total and it is STILL dismantled in my workshop! Hoping for the winter to f'n pack up and leave...... I am gatvol with/for this COLD.

Howzit Tony... In my opinion, it seems unlikely that it is blockage of hoses, filter, etc, since the pressure fell away to nothing like.... suddenly. Unless you're oil level has disappeared, you may have broken a shaft on your oil pump, or the relief valve (which regulates the oil pressure), might be stuck open. Does this make sense?

Chin up dude, when something goes wrong in my garage, I just walk away and give it a couple of days, then give it another shot. It always helps to do things with a cool head.

Ron... your thinking is very similar to mine at the moment. I already have another pump in my tool box.

the pressure relief valve is unlikely cause I dont think it was in operation at time... and if it was, then the pressure should have stayed the same and only died off at lower speed. My current thoughts is a dead pump.


Rui - I am looking on the bright side.
If it works again, then I will be super happy. If it doesnt work, then it gives me an excuse to put in a bigger cam.

My 2776, especially when cold, made a lot of oil flow and the oil pump being PD, a lot of pressure, to the point of blowing my oil filter seal out. I think it is etirely possible that the relief valve opened wide during a high rev moment (PD=high speed=high flow=high press) and maybe got stuck there, relatively wide open, and therefore the press falls right off the gauge when engine speed comes down. Anyway, it's all speculation, I hope it's something cheap and easy to fix, pal. Do let me know what you found! Cheers.

Well, it isnt the oil pump. That is fine and oil flows out while cranking over the engine.

Car is still at Thumpers work, I'll go around tomorrow again to have another look. Ran out of time today to do anything more than check the pump.

Just saw this Tony, damn , that sucks! Also hope it's nothing too serious or time consuming to fix.

There is a lot of fun to be had with your car while on leave, no time for repairs.
