As far as I know, your wheels should be fine. Mine dont look any wider on the bug and niether does the wheels on the darkside.

ok so this morning woke up and made my way to the beetle and lifted the body off the pan ,the pan will have to be sandblasted but luckily the rubbers and tar sheeting that covers the pan has looked after alot of the metal dunno might end up having to order pan halves from cape town and have them brought up truck but for now will have it sand blasted get the gearbox off and see if that is still alive body needs to have rust cut out just below bottom hinge on both sides the front wheel arches have the normal rust that a person tends to find on a bug then last owner tried to take a short cut and use body putty to fix rust and the rust has grown tru it and started to crack but this will be sorted at a later stage have found a set of rostyles will be getting them and then as soon as i can and when i have all the beam sorted and disk brakes on then will have the wheels done in the chrome black look, in terms of a engine have found one in cape town has been reconditioned but have asked for a list of what parts they used (seems most the things i find come from cape town) but would like to find one colser then brake lines that run tru the car looks like the cheap stuff as u can snap them with you fingers the beam with in the next week will be getting its long awaited acid dip want to know the beam is stripped with its leafs out now all of that grease that lies inside will come out and be replaced when everything is back together when i get it acid dipped are there any parts that i need to remove then will it be wise to replace the bearings in the beam of corse time is the only thing we cant control ,then seats still havent been able to find a set for the front must have about 2 sets of back seats if not 3 want to have the pan stripped of all its parts as soon as possible and then take it from there

Just outta curiosity. Who's funding your 1972 rebuild? Some/most of your endevours are rather costly affairs. Good to be done, but expensive.
Yep I am feeling the pain in my pocket. (over qualified, under employed) so just asking.

thanks bugspray i would rather save up and spend the money to do it right once than have to come back in 6 years and have to strip something cause of a little thing i missed so yes the things i buy may be costly but will help in the long run
