Its here its here!
First thing I did, was get those bumpers of. Not really start of project but have to start somewhere.
I think its a singleport unfortunately as I see only 1 pipe going in the block (don't even see a manifold but maybe thats covered or so.)
Going to traffic dep on wednesday to do the paperwork and get it relicensed and put in my name. (she signed the yellow form

)
So.. now its getting chris 58 wheels wich he send to Jozi last month, and get the parts I need for the metalwork for bugger (suicide hinges, metal split window part, split rear lights and popenose and such) Unfortunately thats going to cost me a fortune to start with so it will be a slowly moving project or I have to become a miljonair over night and then I promiss to post daily....
The major happening wil be when it goes the buggers shop for a roofchop.

Sorry to let you all waiting,
Been bussy on bug, sofar I have:
- Stripped the interior and sold it, threw away lining and carpets.(I decided to go for two non reclinable bucketseats. anyone got? Else I buy them new at autostyle)
- Sanded whole body down. Its now a patina mellow yellow.
- Removed bumpers (Want T-bars)
- Found rust on heater channels and bottom of pillars and front sills, need some repairs. Gonna grind those heater boxes out completely. No use for them.
Deciding on if I am going to remove gastank from front and put round spun tank behind seats (safer in case of collision)
Deciding how to taccle the roofchop and if I want that at all. I like a sleeper look with a badass engine.
Deciding what to do with the engine, I got two twincarbs 36 webers with downdrafts but a singleport engine, so in doubt if I do this engine up, or put a monster engine swap in there and sell this refurbed 5000k engine.
I can make mms pics with phone but can someone upload that then for me?
Is there any animo for the empi 5's as I am not sure if I want them (looking at 7500 for all inc tyres.)

Stripped paint from empi 5's (just to see how they look bare and ready for polish)
Removed front windows and rubbers, preparing for chop.
Sourced wide steel wheels.
Bugger checked out beetle.
Deciding if to replace rear fenders with wide fibreglas ones.
Need a 58 bonnet and doors.
Need a good cameraphone to make pics..

Project landed on the
After completely stripping the car, I found to much rust in heaterchannels and doors.
Selling most of the bodywork now.
Will keep the empi 5's for full polish to shine on another bug one day.
Sad, but a good learning experience in identifying beetles rustspots.
Most parts availlable in for sale section.
Also pan with papers (Pan was very good, no rust).

Bugz, that's really bad news....is it really not restorable?

Well..
The body is restorable... don't get me wrong. But one have to ask is this one worth it for me.
Thing is, that for me its just to much money, time to get it somewhere and then its not an original beetle or something thats special to put all that money time and effort in.
The pan is extremely good actually. I might keep that and the papers and the engine. Sell the empi 5's to get some money back from the bug as got wide steelies coming this way from faraad.
As for new project. Yes, I do have my eyes on something. but the wife is not so happy after this quote "piece of shit" experience.
So thinking what to do next. Or buy a restored beetle and spend some more or get something that was advertised a while back on the forum and park that "project" at a friends house until I get my house with double heated garage to work on or work where the missed isn't anoyed by what is in her eyes a piece of rusted metal.
